This morning I went out to buy tea trays (to put plates etc on) and picked up a set of 6 priced at £1.99 each. I wasn't too happy with the size and once I got to the counter I asked if they had the trays in bigger sizes. The lady shouted "Do we have any bigger sizes?", while holding the tea trays up to show her colleague a few aisles away. Her colleague replied (shouting) "Yes, how many do you need?". The lady counted and shouted back "Six!". Her colleague returned with six larger tea trays - priced at £2.99 each.
I then decided to enter into the usual boring chit-chat that occurs when a cashier is ringing up the totals by saying "These will come in handy as the last ones I had were too small and only a medium sized plate could fit. No room for cutlery or anything else."
The cashier's response? I know what you mean - NO. Yes, these are a good buy - NO. These are picture frames - YES!
Embarrassing.
