This morning I went out to buy tea trays (to put plates etc on) and picked up a set of 6 priced at £1.99 each. I wasn't too happy with the size and once I got to the counter I asked if they had the trays in bigger sizes. The lady shouted "Do we have any bigger sizes?", while holding the tea trays up to show her colleague a few aisles away. Her colleague replied (shouting) "Yes, how many do you need?". The lady counted and shouted back "Six!". Her colleague returned with six larger tea trays - priced at £2.99 each.

I then decided to enter into the usual boring chit-chat that occurs when a cashier is ringing up the totals by saying "These will come in handy as the last ones I had were too small and only a medium sized plate could fit. No room for cutlery or anything else."

The cashier's response? I know what you mean - NO. Yes, these are a good buy - NO. These are picture frames - YES!

Embarrassing.

He tried to buy tea trays. Decided they were too small. Store assistant brought six more, but they weren't actually trays, they were picture frames.

That'll be £10 for the Help Understanding Topics (HUT) fund, please.

'Kinell, must I explain all of this topic? No, Euro, look again. Six picture frames, at £2.99 EACH. Now, quickly, in our heads, how much is that?

I bet you're really glad you bothered with this, Phil. Caj - Phil wasn't buying picture frames as trays. He went in to buy trays but the assistant brought out picture frames (at £2.99 each, quantity = 6) instead.

Christ, talk about horse, to death, flogged...

There is another aspect to this sad tale which puzzles me. What's it got to do with death and horse?

More importantly, who are you? And what the hell are you doing posting on my forum? Did I authorise your membership?
