A CHIT CHAT thread

I agree with Marb and all I would add is that the Chit Chat folder exists for off-topic discussion, which inevitably will be whimsical and "out there" at times, but it really isn't difficult to ignore such posts and threads when they crop up on "latest posts" and "latest threads."

I read all manner of material that doesn't interest me, but I wouldn't dream of demanding others stop posting it simply because I don't like it, still less threatening to leave if I don't get my own way.

I'm happy enough with my ability not to read stuff I don't want to without allowing the fact that it exists negatively impact my day.

Having said that: MODS:

Suggest the banner page is segmented into two sub-banners: 'New Posts from General Racing Topics' and 'Other New Posts.'

This would help folks not interested in Waitrose and Timing Belts avoid those deeply controversial topics altogether.

That's not a bad idea, actually.

On TRF you could post in their equivalent of Chit Chat, the Lounge, and if people didn't make a point of visiting the Lounge they'd never see it.

And the eclectic bunch in there had an "anything goes so long as it's legal and not hateful" attitude.

rest hard could do with lightening up, and also accept if he has a gratuitous wannabe controlling pop at people someone might stand up to him and take the proverbial out of him (having a go at people not always being a free bet is something he seems to be discovering belatedly late in life).

But if he can't manage to do either of those things a change in functionality as described above would ensure he never sees anything that might disturb him and harmony can be restored.

Yeah, probably best to delete it - he's not used to people standing up to him and consequences when he's rude about their content here and the mickey taking has obviously really upset him.

I could express the hope he might learn from this and exhibit a modicum of tolerance and keep his opinions of posts and threads that don't interest him to himself from now on, the same as so many others, thankfully do, but his sort never learn - he just thinks life is a free pass to be as rude as he likes with no comebacks.
