Last year I had to get in touch with the TOTE regards my yearly diary..... and again they have failed to send me one, have others had theirs??????????????thanks in anticipation..........

I normally get stacks of the things (my accounts number at least 15) but this year the only one I got was from totesport :o

Can't remember whether I've got a Tote one or not - but I've got one RP desk diary, 1 Betfair diary, on Winning Post Diary, one Bet£3.65 diary and about 8 Sid James diaries!

ba$tards I thought they may have stopped them? (they have in my case? :o )but will send them further emails or cancel my account I sent one a week or two back but they never answered it that's why I made this post on here  ...............

Closing your account for wont of a free diary seems to be sledgehammer and nut time, Merlin.

Does it really bother you, Merlin? Would you really forego a convenience like a phone or online account over a tuppeny-ha'penny diary?

I usually give mine away to my siblings (althought wtf my sis does with them...)

yes I have principles and i'll certainly take my custom elswhere if they are going to give me this sort of treatment...........................this is two years running now but after my complaint last year I did get one................ :P

Our area manager told us Betfred weren't doing any this year so I haven't got one. Nobody else sent me one either

Merlin, I'll be back home in 2 wks - if you haven't got one by then I can send you a SJ one? That is if Mum hasn't given them all away!! They're all in the UK at the moment.

Betfair sent me a pack of playing cards rather than a diary this year.
RUK sent a diary with their latest set of club day vouchers and I have a couple of SJ diaries ( they were giving them away with the racecards at the last Huntingdon meet a fortnight ago).

I suppose I'll have to send off another begging e-mail to RUK, as an NTL subscriber, pointing out that this year, as last, they're disadvantaging their cable users over Sky subscribers by not sending the badge and vouchers. They sent me a badge last year, which was great for the Goodwood meeting, and said that 'at present' they had no way of finding out who their non-Sky subscribers were. I think that's a fairly crap way of assessing your market force, to be honest. Surely all servuce providers return to the various stations who's signed up, so they know what their audience size is?

Merlin - don't be so stingy! Buy a diary from the IJF and SUPPORT the business!

Jon its the principle of the thing nothing to do with costs as such, I have been with the TOTE for yonks now and always have had a very good service from them indeed....I have what you may call an Obbsession, (R.E. BILLS.) I pay my bills on the same day that they come through my letterbox including this companies bills if it warrants it....

Subject: diaries and a very bad service!!

Hi I have posted 4emails this last 2 weeks regarding why I have NOT had my yearly diary... can you explain to me why!!! I have not been sent one or had one, and also can you explain why your end fails to even answer my emails?

My account number is xxxxxx

Thanks in anticipation J-R

I can't believe that your company has become so bad..... R.E. CUSTOMER CARE.................. and I feel that someone a lot higher up should know what's going on, in a once faultless company such as the TOTE, do you not worry that with such bad treatment, members will take their business elsewhere?

Ah, so the Nanny use Messagelabs too!

If you don't get a diary you can have one of mine - equally, if I have any spares (mainly SJ ones) which I'm sure I should if Ma hasn't given them all out, if anyone else wants one I can forwrd one on in Feb.

I have been given a Stan James one, which is full of useful information, such as the telephone numbers of various cities' most expensive hotels, and micro-maps of the UK. I do like it for the photos of the top winning nags, though. If anyone wants it, they can have it - just PM me.

Their choice of horses bugged me though:

Azamour - Correct
Oratorio - No
Soviet Song - Why?
Shamardal - Yes
Motivator - Suppose
Footstepsinthesand - Wtf?

Harchibald - Oh yes
Macs Joy - Er, no
Hardy Eustace - Fine
Moscow - Natch
Kicking King - On a roll
Asian Maze - Never heard of it

Ee, bah gum, there's no pleasin' some folk! Dunno, Euro - perhaps they were the horses which brought the most money in to Stan James's coffers during the season!

In mitigation, racing isn`t really their raison d`etre. It`s a bookie for thick people to bet on football.
Who is Asian Maze though?

Here you go: ASIAN MAZE 7 y.o. ch.m. (Anshan - Mazuma) bred and owned in Ireland by Mrs C A Moore, trained by Tom Mullins. She began without prior Flat form, racing in five Bumpers from late March 04 to July 04, placing four times. She started hurdling then, to the present date, placing 2nd in her first attempt, then racking up four straight wins (the last two at Listed level), then a 2nd and a 1st at Group 3 level (Novice Hurdles), before grabbing two straight wins at Group 1 level (Novice Hurdles). She's won £168,325 to date. Her last race was the G1 Menolly Homes Champion Novice Hurdle, won from a field of 11, with Paul Carberry aboard, going off the 6-4 fav.

The RP notes from the Menolly race state: "ASIAN MAZE has been a revelation this season and she crowned a fine campaign with another all-the-way win and a second success at G1 level (over 2m 4f), following her success at Aintree earlier this month (3m). Setting a decent pace, she jumped well throughout... " She won by an easy five lengths, having mullered 'em!

I do have to confess to the same ignorance of her as yourself, Euro, so don't think I'm being a smartypants knowing anything about her! :shy:

I'm willing to bet (in fact I know!!!) that KK certainly did not bring any money into SJ coffers last season....

To be fair, it's not just SJ - it's a standard racing diary from one firm, that several other bookies use as well. My independent uses them, as does Bet£3.65, amongst others.
