Aftertiming thread

I had Karl Burke on my list of in form trainers but I never back anything first time out. 14:00 Leicester yesterday, Alperslan storms home at 14/1.
As expected all my bets blew out, I still lose discipline occasionally. Hey ho, tomorrow, or rather today, is another day.

I've been flat out busy as running my local show but a friend flagged up the Irish racing on Saturday (need to add to Flatties to Follow as there were a couple I liked) but I saw Buccanero Fuerte was in ( late non runner at Ascot I think?) anyway I put a couple of quid on and was pleased to see how nicely he won.

Very nice mate dont you worry about what Gordon thinks ;)
Thank you, really surprised that my judgement was right for once.

I am definitely a mug punter, always making the decision on what to back with my heart rather than head and one of the many things I love about this forum is the knowledge and insight that so many posters have.
Its great that so many are willing to share their insights and also that so many are putting effort into their analysis and pointing novices like me in the direction of the odd winner or two.
And the icing on the cake, Uncle Smart Arse with his various folio's that are never too far off the mark.

Oh no, he'll be changing his name to Uncle Very Smart Arse if we're not careful ☹️

Would you believe it. I took bits of 510, 520, 530 about 10 mins before the race. That was a wondrous last 100 yards!

Biggest ever BF winner, the last was 2-3 years ago at around 430. They're rare.
There's aftertiming and then there's aftertiming - the above should carry a jail sentence tbf.

Well done!

A few weeks ago the Weekender had one of their occasional politics pages.

On that occasion, the guy made a decent case for backing Catherine Connolly to be the next president of Ireland at 6/1 so I followed the advice.

I've just seen on the News that her opponent has conceded so that's another wee boost for me today.

I didn't see that, but whenever/wherever she was 6/1 it was the rickiest rick this side of Ricktown. Well done.

What I know about Irish politics doesn't go beyond stories passed down to my dear departed mother by her father whose family was burned out of their house by the Black & Tans so my opinions are pretty black & white: UK Army - Bad, anyone prepared to resist them - Good.

But the guy's case for CC read as coherent so I thought why not. I think he might have said 3/1 would have been generous but I no longer hold on to back copies of the Weekender.

Alexei - I posted him on the Jumpers to Follow thread last year and stuck him in as my Dark Horse last season (and this). I thought he was very much one to follow and backed him for the Supreme but he went a bit weak. But I kept the faith and after a cracking debut this season at Ffos Las, he's gone one better today. I think he's pretty nice.
Sorry I failed to flag him up on the Will Win thread - sometimes I'd rather they won and I didn't scupper their chances!

Two winners in an Ew patent, 10/1, 15/2

The 3rd runner is a 20/1 shot.

Always the question: would you cash out now? They're offering 14 times my original stake
