Knox and Sollecito freed

Correct decision. What an embarassment for Italy. How could you have 2 people imprisoned for 4 years after such an awful, error-strewn investigation?

I don't know whether they were innocent or guilty, but the prosecution sure as hell didn't prove they were. How they were found guilty at the original trial is beyond me.

I remember reading a fascinating article on how allowing people to bet on things like the outcome of a murder trial or the next terrorist attack would be a greater indicator than any poll etc. I would assume that if betting had been available on this she would have been 1.01 to be freed given the well documented problems with the prosecutions.

It seems as though everyon's forgotten that someone killed the girl who now gets no justice. This whole case stinks and I don't necessarily believe that Knox is innocent even if it was possibly right to judge the case not proven today.

I think youre forgetting something here - there is someone in jail convicted of this.

Thanks - thought he'd pleaded guilty.

A quick google reveals he had his sentence near enough halved on appeal - botched investigation all round.

Two knives used. Killers do that do they? One knife got a bit blunt did it?

I havent followed every word of this but there were some pretty gaping holes in the story

And Knoxs story and lies changed around how many times?

I dont know whether they did it or not but I get a strong sense that poor detective work has worked in their favour

Im with Tout here. Its pretty repulsive to see the crowing by some whilst the victims are forgotten

And without getting all Guardain you do wonder if knox and Scarface (or whatever his name is) were african and Rudy was white middle class american or italiam....

Clive, just because the retarded element of society and the media choose to fixate on Knox does not mean Kercher is forgotten in this, at least by more decent people.

Agree about the poor detective work, and that is why it is correct they are freed.

No need to change skin colours. The fact is, Knox has been shockingly treated by the media, portrayed as this and that with absolutely no evidence, the foxy knoxy label has done her no end of harm, and her family, whilst looking like the type of Americans I dislike, were right to counter it with a media campaign of their own.

Who is crowing???

I think Knox's lawyer summed it up best when he said there are no winners in this. Reflects very poorly on Italy, and the level of police work there.

Did anyone see the factual Dail Mail report on this last night, complete with quotes such as

Prosecutors were delighted with the verdict and said that ‘justice has been done’ although they said on a ‘human factor it was sad two young people would be spending years in jail’.

As Knox realized the enormity of what judge Hellman was saying she sank into her chair sobbing uncontrollably while her family and friends hugged each other in tears.

A few feet away Meredith's mother Arline, her sister Stephanie and brother Lyle, who had flown in especially for the verdict remained expressionless, staring straight ahead, glancing over just once at the distraught Knox family.

I know some stories are pre - written but that just goes to show that the Daily Mail is quite happy to make everything up.

Interpreter issues at the Daily Mail?

They may have been put away by Sky News who went with a GUILTY banner and sub heading about failed appeal when the judge announced first the verdict on the Police Slander charges. The sky news interpreter was pretty bad.
