So, the start of the decent tv season in the US is almost upon us.
Whats everyone watching this year (or last year) and enjoyed?

Thats a decent site for when things are being shown in the US

Personally I'm looking forward to Chuck and The Big Bang Theory, which I thought were far and away the best US series last year. Chuck has alread got a full 22 episode order, which is practically unheard of before the season starts. Even the likes of prison break and heroes usually only get 13 episodes ordered to start with.
The Middleman was very good too, although it has been cancelled :(. Also enjoying Burn Notice at the moment.

You started a thread like this before Col and it pointed me to Heroes! I hope the up coming third season is better than the second.

I like Brothers & Sisters alot so will be watching out of the next season of it.

I think Californication is the best thing on the box since the Sopranos finished.
Caught the last 5 minutes of Entourage series 2 during the week -looked good -anyone else have an opinion on it.

I dont know if it has been mentioned on here before but The Wire is the best TV program ever made. Watching it makes even The Sopranos look slightly hackneyed. It was broken TV for me as cant really appreciate anything since. The Arkle of television series.

First couple of seasons of Entourage are good. Found it tailing off in the last few years.

thats a trailer for season 3
Season 2 wasn't very good because of the writers strike, there were supposed to be about another 10 episodes, so although one story arc was wrapped up, it wasn't done properly and there was supposed to be another one.

I did a long post last year too but it was lost when we had server problems and I couldn't be bothered to re-write it :(

Anyone wanting to purchase a few boxed sets of the Wire would be interested to know that Season 2-4 are available for £15 (+p&p) on Amazon at the minute.

Season 1 is £23.00 or so.

Normally around £40 - £50 on Play and cd-wow.

I also liked Californication looking forward to season two although interesting to know if reports circualting about David Duchovny going into rehab for sex addiction today are true given the nature of his character in the series :p

It has and you are right. This series could even be the best yet.

I was a huge fan of the Sopranos though

I and others have oft recommended Wire. For me the best TV show I've seen.It would be absolute perfection but occasionally Dominic West overacted and in series 2 there was an oddly unbelievable sub .

My comments above are only a minor criticism as the standard of acting was consistently excellent and plot lines brilliant. Should be compulsory viewing for 11 plus kids and politicans, for screen writers and aspiring actors/actresses.

Two of the killings nearly had me in tears and they were villains. Omar rocks!

I actually think the first campaign is the best to be honest. Rob Lowe was a fairly big loss.

The guys that play Josh (whitford) and Toby (no idea!) are absolutely fantastic.

That's him. President Bartlett (Martin Sheen) and his wife (Cherie Blair) fit the roles perfectly as well.

Immaculate casting really.

Prison Break starts tonight in the UK with a double episode on Sky One for anyone watching it

Hopefully showing programmes with very little delay will start happening more (it was shown in US last night)

Didnt Sorkin leave the show after Rob Lowe left (not as a consequence, just needed to go to rehab) Think it dipped as a consequence.

First couple of seasons are top class, but as has been mentioned numerous times, all discussions regarding best TV serieseses out there have to be done after The Wire is watched.

(I think Randy's story in Series 4 and 5 is the most touching by the way Tout Seul, with Brother Muzone the only real character that wasnt up to scratch for me (not giving anything away for anyone who hasnt watched it by saying that))

The last two seasons (at least) of the Sopranos were somewhat ruined as it really only concerned how it was going to end. We'll that is what I got from it.

Rob Lowe left during Season 4, at the end of which Sorkin and Schlamme left. It did dip, as you would expect it to, but the election arc that dominated the last year or so was something of a return to form.

I did watch the last series with Alda and Smits. Was very good - The "arguement" between Toby and Josh - but didnt take to CJ in her new role or the Rob Lowe replacement. Maybe just lost the magic with Martin Sheen less prominent, but missed some of the previous two seasons out of disillusionment.

Prison Break - oh dear - how bad is it now :(

On the upside

Rush looks ok - although its aussie rather than US
Greek season 2 has started well
The Middleman finale was excellent - and it may be getting picked up by another channel after it was cancelled
Raising the bar might be ok if you like lawyer dramas
Mad men series 2 is as excellent as series one

90210 - looks as bad as the original
