Annual Pilgrimage

Another thing to put on my tick list of things to do before I die. Not quite as political but I sort of followed 'The Gate to Southwell' the other week; the sight of rather pagan black faced Morris Dancers in Southwell Minster was worth braving the rain for. Terribly fond, I am of these old English traditions. Padstow for the 'obby 'orse next year, I hope.

You do get some very militant types at Tolpuddle, but if it wasn't for people like the Martyrs we would still be fore-lock tugging to the wicked Squire. I think it is important to get through to younger people that a lot of things they take for granted were hard won by their forebears.
I'm reaching the end of my working life and to be honest I haven't been able to find a "proper" job for 10 years, but the rent has to be paid.
The last day of the Festival is free entry but you have to pay a tenner to park, and last year there were supposedly 10 000 people there.
