Hello One and All

I am new to forums, Bryan kindly let me in last week.

In short, I have been lay betting since the Pandemic. It has served me reasonably well, although I can always learn more.
The reality is every time I try backing, I make some, lose some and end up back where I started,

However, I have had more success with Lay betting, which has come in useful.

Question;

Is there a thread for those who focus on Laying horses?

If so, what is it called and where can I find it?

Welcome Frodo, be interesting to see how your lays perform. Whenever I place a lay bet my selections usually sprout wings

Happy to share.

I will lay

Bollin Neil

on the 17:45 hrs at Hamilton

I will not mention the others I have already covered today. I have heard about people who post results after the event. "Everyone a winner"
Also, this is not a recommendation, I am just sharing my own opinion, not suggesting anyone else act on it.

Problem with a lay thread is that you're saying WD on your 1/5 winner (but you did win!)

Ok. That worked out well. :)

Indeed. I will have to choose my wording carefully.

I will lay

King Of Thunder
on the 19:00 hrs at Kempton

Is it just me or are you some sort of droid ? Or a foreign exchange student or something.

By the way ill reciprocate and not tell you what I did earlier. It wasn't very interesting so you didn't miss much.

It is just you :)

I am neither a Droid nor a foreign exchange student :)

Love your response, made me laugh "It wasn't very interesting so you didn't miss much."

How do I start a Thread and what should I call it?

Also, are there any subjects I should avoid? / Etiquettes I should follow?
These are truly outstanding questions.

There is a create thread green button kicking about somewhere - I'd give that a go.

I'd then tend to give it a name that pertains to its subject matter.

Subjects to avoid?

The list is endless: politics, religion, the form of Celtic FC when Maurice is around, Walsworth's trainers in form thread apparently operating a month in arrears, praising me (don't feed the narcissist) when I put up a winner and generally, spreadsheets in front of pawras, f$%^ing off Slim's thread, and gooseberry jam (which no one likes and what is it even for?)

Etiquette: TH is a covert cult and the etiquette is unwritten - a clue that you've crossed a line is waking up with a horse's head in your bed.

But it's a fairly friendly place - apart from me, obviously, I'm horrible - generally.

go to general forums top right below search is a post thread button click that it will then ask you what thread you want to post it in I'd suggest under general racing topics or even the blog section. Thread title something along the lines of Hobbits lay betting unless you can think of something sexier. Post your lays and people usually put a price they've laid/bet at as obviously if you're laying win only on the machine you tend to be laying a bigger price than the bookies at and whether its a win or a place lay. Keep track and post your profits and loss it'll generate more interest if you are winning ling term and a better advertisement of your talents.

After all of that I'd suggest taking in a second breakfast and a few puffs on the pipe as it can be a high pressure environment putting yourself out there as a Tipster on your own thread.

Laying bets is not as easy as it seems. I have tried several times to take it seriously but found that a month’s profit can be wiped out in one day.

Thank you Danny, I appreciate the info.

The problem often happens when a stronger horse, or two, becomes a non runner. Suddenly the horse you laid is the strongest in the race, even though it would not have stood a chance against the horses that are not going to run.
