Noticed some random ante-post moves on three Mullins horses - Leader D'Allier (Supreme), Charme De Faust (Triumph) and Doctor Du Mesnil (Bartlett). Know it doesn't take much to move the markets but can't find context or quotes anywhere. Any ideas?

Hi Basil,

There are some who like their ante-post bets here but, generally speaking, I'd say there's less interest in it - and especially in the Cheltenham Festival - than you'll find in the wider racing and betting media and social media.

Lots of interesting bets every day of the week - quite a few (though not all) of us don't really think seriously about the Cheltenham Festival until the confirmed entries start being made the week before it commences.

Could be anything, and maybe is partly dependent on where you're looking and what the context is of those moves across (and in comparison with) different books. You will only ever have (access to) wildly incomplete information on this, but you might be able to draw/guess some (very loose) inference. But I'd suggest (that this far in advance, and with a lot of hands still to be shown/proven/indicated) it's highly unlikely it's a movement elicited by any form of 'in the know' money (which is why I guess you're asking).

Taking an example from the three...Leader is quoted at 50-1 for the Future Champions just after Christmas. Behind several other WM runners, much shorter (the good Doctor has an entry, too). Though you could say the entry itself is interesting and a potential marker in Leader's case, irrelevant of current odds.

In case you haven't seen some obvious (very rough) pointers yet - from WM himself....here are the relevant quotes...

Charme - A brand new addition to the yard who we're hoping might make up into a
Triumph Hurdle contender. She was second at Auteuil in September for
Gabriel Leenders in what looked a decent race with plenty of runners. She
could be quite smart

Doctor - He's quite exciting and looked the part when he won his bumper at Cork.
Going on his home work I'd say he's more of a two-and-a-half-mile horse than
a two-miler, but we'll see what happens. He's nice and I'm looking forward to
seeing how high he can climb over hurdles.

Leader - Doesn't seem to get a mention anywhere (from what I can see)

Very fair. Just intrigued as to what caused the prices to collapse without them running, but assume it would have been a throwaway comment on a podcast that I don't listen to.
