Do you want to cut down on your drinking, try and save more money, stop smoking, read more, get your finances in order, travel more, move house, find a new job, gamble less, find a new girlfriend/boyfriend, find a boyfriend/girlfriend, file for divorce, spend more time with family and/or friends, come out of the closet? shrug::

Is anyone brave enough to reveal those goals and achievements they hope to achieve in 2008?

I haven't decided on mine yet but am looking for ideas.

That's certainly NOT on my list, Colin! An Capall would never forgive me if I ever stopped. Infact I am positively going to name drop more if that is at all possible.

There is a plan for January. The plan is to knock beer on the head for the entire month. Also to clean up my diet, back on the fruit kick (which I lost 6 months ago), and to stop eating bread.

Weight loss is a must for me. Also, I want to try and get a bit fitter. Having spent six weeks in the gym in the summer as 'pre-season' for the Friday afternoon indoor football, it was only on two or three times and I'm probably back where I was. Losing weight will help.

I also intend to ease up on the drink. I remember about twelve years ago being shocked when a super-fit colleague, ten years my elder, told me he drank about 15 pints a week, most of that at the weekend. I reckoned that would have killed me, yet I was sitting comfortably at about 11-7 and very active with football, swimming and cycling, and only drinking very moderately (2 pints at the weekend).

I reckon I get through at least six pints a week now, plus about a bottle of wine, and more than that when there are big football matches televised live. For me, that's excessive so I intend to cut back down to my previous levels and will probably give up altogether for Lent for the first time since I was a student.
