Lovely Saturday racing but I haven't studied much over the last 2-3 days since I've been in Dublin, following Palace's European exploits. I'm back and really only have two of my noted horses to back.

Rightsotom - Doncaster 12.25 9/2 Ew

My note after his last run:

'This was run at a fearsome pace and it was noticeable how this one was running on towards the line. He jumped well and showed a nice attitude. Given the time of the race and his late headway, 3M wouldn’t be out of the question.

Well' not up in trip and seemingly having it all to do with Zurich, I'm trusting we'll see a different horse today after his last run and with them keeping the pieces on that were introduced last time out.'

If I was to have one bet today, that would be it.


Monty Bodkin - Doncaster 1.30 14/1 Ew

I couldn't help but note this one last time out and did so thus:

'Firstly, it seemed he didn’t stay here. He was travelling very nicely but just petered out like a non-stayer. Anyway, looking at the breeding, chasing is the name of the game for this one. A novice chase or nov h/cap chase over 2.5m would be a good call.

You know, he has no HR at present and it would have to be of interest if they put him straight into handicap chases. Just a thought.'

You can see why I'm not sure with Monty today since it's over 3m and it's not a chase but, on the other hand, it's his first handicap so he needs to be done as insurance.
