Our flats' ex-manager has moved into the block of flats where I'll be from next week. I had a look at her new set-up and was surprised to see she'd dumped her landline and now only uses a mobi, courtesy of Orange, and has a laptop with a dongle for b/b. The set-up seemed cheaper than my landline/broadband/tv cable package from Virgin, with my mobile only being topped up for Vodaphone about once a year. She said all her calls, texts, and broadband cost £30 a month (through Orange).
Has anyone else here gone totally mobile and, if they have, can they give me any pros and cons? At the mo I have landline phones in the lounge and bedroom, and the mobi is only used for travel info (I'll be late/I'll be early/I've lost my way).
It does seem that a lot of people aren't using landlines any more and I guess all I need to do is to recondition my thinking about having a phone that can go everywhere with you, round the house, the garden, and the car. I doubt I'd carry it into every social occasion, though, unless I didn't mind being pestered by calls.
Anyone recommend saying goodbye to their landlines? And any service providers to recommend, too, please?
