DAY THREE

2:30 Wise Approach had nothing to race against towards the finish, so Buick edged him over to the leading trio. He picked off two of them, but couldn’t get near the winner. There’s a race in there.

3:40 Go Go Boots was second to last coming Ito the straight and didn’t get in the clear until inside the last two furlongs. She finished strongly into fourth and I doubt she could have done better than that. Down in grade a bit would be nice.

5:00 La Botte had to wait until late for a run, then darted inside to the rail (earning his rider two days) and tried for a gap twixt rail and winner, made it to a neck before the post arrived. Unlucky

DAY FOUR

2:30 Venetian Sun won well without he rider having to get serious. Karl Burke reckon’s she’s the best he’s had.

I think VENETIAN SUN is a a very special filly. The work she has done at home, I haven't had a 2yo filly do work like it; just the last six weeks. She's kicking older group horses out the way at home. I worked a good, old work horse with her about a month ago or just after her debut and I had to work her with another good one that I knew was reliable and she did the same to him and I'm talking 110 rated horses. I think she's very special - Karl Burke, trainer.

5:00 Cajole put in a personal best on her handicap debut and if the handicapper doesn’t go mad she can go one better.

5:35 Amiloc put in a tremendous performance to win here considering his jockey said that he absolutely hated the ground. I hope it doesn’t leave its mark.

I thought the last half furlong AMILOC wasn't looking for the line, he was feeling the ground more than anything else. I think we'll bear that in mind in future but he's a gelding, we had conversations last night and this morning about whether we should come. Patrick Cooper, Mr Aykroyd's nephew and Mrs Aykroyd's racing manager, decided this was a good idea and I agreed so it all worked out. I think ground will dictate, I wouldn't be afraid to take anybody on with him on slower ground so he is in everything. He's going to take a bit of getting over today by the look of him; if it came up soft next month [for the King George], or with a bit of juice, I'm sure we'd be here - Ralph Beckett, trainer.

La Botte apparently off to Australia, but is likely to have one run beforehand. Whether that’s a prep for Aussie or a last hurrah is anyones guess.

Had a busy week just got to days 3 and 4. I must have watched the Britannia fourteen times and La Botte did stand out obviously but yeah Australia so not interested now. I'm taking Fifth Column for the boys in blue who was best from the low draws.

Cajole was the most eye catching horse over the first four days for me. Her run reminded me of Bronze Angel's in the Britannia years ago. Hopefully her trainer doesn't stick her in a listed/group race.

The other takeaways were Comical Point and Gold Digger from the 2yo races.

Connections said he would be going to Australia at the end of the year, so we may well see La Botte in action here again.
