I should have just had a day out today, lost 19.00pts. I am not entirely finished with this.
I think I have thought of away of discarding some of the losers. There are only 3 qualifying races tomorrow, so I think I will take the day off and start again on Thursday.

The concensus seems to think I should bin this, so I will, at least on here. I guess this time next year, I will have to be a multimillionaire on my own 😃.

It’s not that you can’t sculpt David, it’s that you’re trying to do it with a sledgehammer.

Here's the thing from my honest perspective.

There are forums which are member access only, membership by recommendation only, every member is a pro or semi pro punter and, if a member doesn't pull their weight in terms of profitable input, after a while admin revoke their membership.

TH isn't like that, it's free access to all, even guests, but I'd say it's not cheery, gallows humour, losers corner in the local betting shop either.

Many here put considerable effort into their betting and anyone who posts a new method inevitably comes under scrutiny.

Methods that seem facile don't look too clever when others might be doing anything from developing extensive networks of contacts to utilising non-linear multiple regression theory to hone a betting model.

Everyone is clearly welcome here and rightly so, but I wouldn't go on a rare cattle breed forum and suggest the best way to be sure an animal is a cow is by counting four legs and I suspect there's a bit of that at work in the way betting methodologies are critiqued here sometimes.

I really do hope you are rich this time next year, Rodney, sorry, Alex, but if you are one request: no photos of people with wheelbarrows of cash please - I've seen enough of those here to last me several lifetimes.

Hi Ian,

Thank you for replying, I totally agree. To be honest, I am finding finding my selection's, betting on them, and then posting them on here a bit too much like hard work. For what it is worth, the reason I have been persisting with this, and keeping a record on here is that I find the logic behind this all a bit odd. I have tried many a system over the years, but none have been so close to succeeding, over an entire summer as this one. I get why people have lost the faith, I would have long ago. Have you ever seen the film "Let It Ride" with Richard Dreyfuss. In my opinion a wonderful film, which more or less sums up this situation šŸ˜€.

It’s surprising how the simple often works out. Many years ago our boss caught two of us pouring over the Sporting Chronicle making our selections for a competition between us (loser took the other for a slap up meal at the end of the season). He knew nothing about horse racing, but asked if he could join in (an easy meal we thought) ā€œI know nothing he said, so I’ll have the third horse down in the third race at the main meeting each day.ā€ He won it two seasons running . Well in the plus, too.

True dat Jon. For many years around Grand National time, because I was the known "expert" at work (as in I liked a bet on the gees), my answer was always the same. Roll a dice & back that number horse in the GN. Not only did their horse win on occasion but if it didn't I could always say "if only you'd rolled a...."

Betting isn’t about a magic system or rolling dice, it’s about building a process that consistently finds good bets. That’s all it is. Systems can hit a purple patch through luck, but long-term it’s the process that matters.

A moot point perhaps (because these additional aspects are effectively encapsulated within the process)...but "it’s about building a process that consistently finds good bets"...and then having the discipline to follow it without diverting, and the fund management to ensure longevity because the next loser (or losing run) is just around the corner, just as there will always, always, always be another winner around that corner.

It's clear that Slim is consistently walking his talk and demonstrating it. As others are (you know who you are). But fair play to you for trying it and showing the world, Alex (although from the outset it seemed doomed. Doomed). It's hard (or can be hard) to get the time to keep something like this up, especially from a 'reporting progress' perspective. Harder still when results are not going the hoped-for way.
