Backing Venetia Williams' Chasers In November with Andrew Mount

I saw Zertakt at Windsor last season - talented horse but quirky as **** IMO, runs in snatches, manages to get beat a lot and consequently not badly handicapped, really.

The Famous Five is entered in the 1.30 class two race at Aintree on Saturday. He had an entry at Newcastle recently in a lower class race, and another entry for this Friday, again in a lower class race, but was taken out today. Perhaps this is a sign the horse has been working well at home and they are keen to target the more valuable race?

Stable jockey is booked for Saturday and I hope this horse proves he's the talent and ability that I think he does. Final declarations tomorrow. I hope a few stand their ground to keep this horses price honest.
The Famous Five was entered for two races at Newbury this Wednesday ( two, and two and a half miles handicap chases ), and has been declared for neither of them. There's nothing else before Saturday at least. Chepstow usually have a two and a half miler on Welsh National day.

Jungle Boogie, very lightly raced and formerly with Willie Mullins and Henry De Bromhead ( 6th in the 2024 Gold Cup ) is a new recruit, and is in the two and a half miles handicap chase at Cheltenham on New Year's Day as a 12-y-o. He's still owned by Malcolm Denmark.

Entered for Saturday's 2m 3f handicap chase at Ascot. 11 entries and £18,000 first prize.

The Famous Five
Victtorino
Nambiti
King Of Records
Johnny Boy
Lagonda
Flowing Cadenza

It's the Saturday Super Heinz that will prove once and for all that December really is the new November.
Not just the stable form, but the horses last 3 runs, make his odds of 5, 6/1, laughable !
He'll probably canter home now 😃

Hill Of Tara's run yesterday at Uttoxeter - pulled-up in conditions where the stable usually excels - doesn't fill me with confidence for today, but I really like the first two in your list running at Ascot.

Flowing Cadenza won the corresponding mares' race at Hereford three years ago, but has only raced four times since then failing to complete in the last two of those. If there is a winner today I'm hoping it won't be King Of Records in the novice hurdle at the shortest price of the lot.

I saw Lagonda win her Maiden Point at Milborne St Andrew five years ago.

She is the Boat of Boats, the Boats's Boat, but she's not devoid of ability and she keeps plugging on.

The plan to wait very patiently for a race on a right-handed course needs revision.
It's been a bloodbath of a day for me.

To say The Famous Five needed the run must be the understatement of the millennium.

I suppose with Venetia's horses in such poor form this was a highly likely scenario, but boy oh boy, I wasn't expecting it to be tailed off on the run to the first fence.

After seeing what Deep Cave has done today and how I abandoned him last season, I suppose I should forgive The Famous Five today, and may give him another chance on a left handed track, if the price is right next time.

Timeline....
January 2026 - Following an unsuccessful December, January is declared the new November by the TH Massive.
February 2026 - Following an even more unsuccessful start to the year, February, according to the TH Massive, is when VW will strike.
March 2026 - Despite a winnerless year so far, the TH Massive confidently predicts a successful Cheltenham Festival for VW.
April 2026 - Even though the Fez was catastrophic for VW, the TH Massive are in no doubt the Grand National meeting is where VW turns it around.
2026/2027 Season - Having had no winners since New Year's Day and nothing in the frame since March, it is clear to the TH Massive VW has a yard full of well handicapped horses and this will be a great season for her.
End of 2026/2027 Season - With no wins, no places and 80% of runners pulled up all season, VW hands in her licence, blaming the curse of a TH thread on her downfall. VW announces she will open a fish and chip shop funded by the proceeds of her court action against an "A Mount" for the little-known civil Tort of "Putting A Right Bok On Her."
