Darley has spent $52.6 million on Storm Cat colts in the last decade, with British Blue the only resulting stakes winner. [/quote]

Ivory tower-oasis dream ex kangra valley,as a half brother to one of my favourite
flat horses airwave (my avatar).I hope this colt goes on to great things. :D

Who does do the naming, Gal? Anyone?

I do wish they'd make a bit more effort to find names which have something to do with the immediate breeding!

That's a goodly number of Sadlers Wells' considering his advanced age
The Elite yearling filly by SW out of Kalinka [dam of Soviet Song] is coming on treat by the way

Why? So we end up with another batch of Whatever Dancers etc.

Quite so, I've long been bored with Northern this and Dancing that.

Tesio used to name his colts after painters - as a rule the less well known the artist the better the horse turned out.

Er, one can be a bit more inventive than that!

I like to have some idea of breeding when I'm looking down a race card without having to delve about - and my memory isn't what it was! I guess I'm a bit of a puritan about such things, but unless a name is witty or there is some other good/personal reason for it, I find some of the Coolmore namings a bit 'pompous'!

They wreck my head the way every Storm Cat has "Cat" in it...Black Cat Crossing, One Cool Cat, One Great Cat etc etc.

How about a little fun comp...Anyone care to take a guess at naming their highest rated two year old of the season?

O'Brien juveniles to be seen very late

It could be May before Aidan O'Brien saddles his first juvenile runners this season, he has revealed.

Flat racing starts properly at The Curragh next Sunday, a meeting O'Brien has traditionally done very well in - particularly the two-year-old maiden.

However, the Ballydoyle handler has admitted that it will be a much later start for his rookie runners this term.

"None of them is named yet, but a good few are ready to get cantering at the moment.

"I'd say it will be about four to six weeks away before we see any," he said at the launch of the upcoming Curragh season.

O'Brien nominated Zulu Chief - a Fusaichi Pegasus half-brother to Hawk Wing - as his unraced three-year-old to follow, and added that he was "looking forward to the year" with Arc fifth Soldier Of Fortune.

Galileo - Can you email the above list of names through to O'Brien? :D
