Some people that own a few dogs on the estate next to where I work fell in love with Barney as soon as we introduced him to them. To cut a long story short, their bitch Sally and Barney have been best friends for nearly 18 months.

Our neighbours asked last week if they could borrow Barney to do his male duties as Sally was on heat and they thought Barney would make a lovely sire.

Well, evidently today in the bushes something took place. Assuming it did, I may be hearing the patter of lots of little paws in about 9 weeks time. We have been offered the pick of the litter if we want a companion for Barney, but I think I will make a decision later, as looking after puppies, as many of you know, is very hard work!

Bless him. B)

Well, you know me Simmo, I like to keep this forum awash with my nonsense threads - especially when I am bored at work! :D

Now that he's learned how to do it, Kathy, are toys and legs a bit safer now? Congrats to the Barnacle, I trust he's a New Dog and will be there for the births?

My neighbour got a pup from our local rescue centre and apparently he was told that it was a condition of ownership that the dog be neutered and chipped, both free of charge
paid for by the centre.

Have you thought of having him snipped Kathy ?

The NDL and the RSPCA charge between £70-80 to buy a dog, though, Lee, and the neutering and chipping is mandatory to the purchase, not an option.

Lee, Barney is such a lovely dog, kind temperament, very playful, and great with children. We had thought of having him snipped when we first got him, but it was my idea to leave him as a full dog with the option to breeding from him one day. He has never been aggressive with humans, although with being a full dog he does have his moments with some other dogs.

If Barney's girlfriend has puppies, they will all be found good homes, and we haven't completely ruled out having one of them ourselves. B)

Krizon, Barney never went for legs or the furniture.... just one favourite pillow. Not one we then used on the bed, I hasten to add. The fact that Sally is a Highland terrier helped with the courting process as she is sort of a square shape, white and fluffy.... not unlike his pillow! :)

 I can imagine Barney checking her over first: "Whoaaah... I'm not getting on that, Mum. There's no Fire Safety label!"

Looks like Barney will be seeing his offspring in the next two weeks! We have decided against having one, well, that's until I see them of course and fall in love with them. This is the bitches first litter so fingers crossed she has no complications.

Poor Barney has not been allowed within a foot of her since the dirty deed took place, and me trying to explain it's her hormones running riot is not currently working.

still makes me smile when I read that, our dog used to do that to every visitor.

Lee, he has never been to bad, apart from with his favourite pillow, but now he has sampled "the real thing" he seems alot calmer and alot less interested in the pillow. I am going to see the puppies on Monday morning, evidently they all have Barney's colouring. I must be strong.... I am definitely not having another puppy...

I have been to see the puppies, and they are all coloured tri-colour like Barney - even though the mother is pure white. There are 3 bitches and one dog, and all of them have already been found good homes, with the direct family of the owner of the mother of the puppies so I know where they are all going.

Sally, the puppies mother, gave birth to the first very easily, and the second soon followed. Two hours later the third arrived, and then 12 hours later the fourth and final one arrived. Although, all are extremely cute, I had no pangs to own one, probably because they all still look like tiny gerbils at the moment!

You will all be thrilled to know that some photos will (hopefully) follow later. B)
