Barstewards Podcast

Sorted now. (Been out most of the day avoiding all the shite on TV.)

Actually I found it all quite absorbing and I thought it was marvellous to see so many thousands of people lining her route, as well as the crowds queuing up beforehand and through the week. Interesting that our pageantry is all horses, swords and pikes, whereas in Russia it is tanks, rockets and artillery. Must tell the trained mind something!

Thought it was beyond beautiful. Even if you don’t agree with the monarchy, this was just the most spectacular way to say goodbye to an incredible woman. We do pomp and ceremony better than anyone and the public support spoke volumes.

And also massive respect to the Royal Family for getting through such a long day in full public view...unbelievably hard. Even with their “conditioning” it was remarkable, as I for one, cannot imagine how they held it together.

1.32 million reportedly lined the route for Princess Di's funeral; the last Royal I had any respect for.

I won't disagree with any of that. It's the TV people that do my nut in with their forced fawning sycophancy. Somebody actually sat down and, over a period of time, wrote all that shite and some director in an office or portacabin somewhere was telling the presenters and commentators about laying it on thick, as they do all the time with any situation where emotions might be involved.

Well I watched ITV and to be fair, they were mainly silent throughout just letting the whole occasion speak for itself.

I think that perfectly sums it up. I (and my wife) found it surprisingly moving yesterday, to the point where come midnight we were still crying. It felt very much like 'you don't fully understand what you've really got till it's gone'. A sad but glorious end day, indeed.

Your 8/1 about Waterville for todays big race is looking good value now, Slim. Good luck in the race itself.

Well done Slim indeed.

What next for Waterville? He's a real horse of interest now.

Any chance someone can post Slims selections on this thread as I can't open his twitter link.

Absolutely, esp for those of advanced years
