November Rain ( Guns n Roses i think??) Im a complete sucker for any love song ( except Unchained Melody - hate it!!) so i keep remembering different ones!!

Diamonds And Rust by S.O.D. is a very beautiful and moving song. I always have a little difficulty remembering all of the lyrics though as it is a very sing-a-long tune.

The George Michael version of 'First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' reduces me to tears every time so I'd better take some tissues with me in December incase he sings it  I'm also a fan of 'On And On' by the Longpigs and 'Never Tear Us Apart' by INXS.
George Michael's singing does that to me too . I weep if I have to hear any of his ghastly mush .Careless Whisper is vomitworthy.

The old George Michael stuff is the best, the music he did with Wham.
No, I'd say it was the Faith/Listen Without Prejudice years that were the best. He's lost his way since then. My mum and I are going to see him at the NEC :D

Solerina,

That Tom Waits song you are quoting is not Closing Time. It is New Coat of Paint.

Closing Time is an album; there is an instrumental at the end of Closing Time of the same name, but there are no lyrics.
Sorry Bar , Closing time for me that night :P One of my fav albums and of course you're right

apologies for reviving an old thread, but I came across this song (not literally) last night for the first time in years and was overwhelmed by it's beauty.

1966 And All That - Half Man Half Biscuit

we sat and decided as the seaons collided
that our love was fairly utopian
if it wasnt for my pills, my psychiatric bills
and your unreliable fallopian
then i guess wed be fine
embraced on cloud 9
emotionally impossible to sever
you turn around quickly andever so sickly
i tell you id love you forever

If only youd give me my Lev Yashin poster back
six months ago i returned your brown anorak
but you keep forgetting
and its far too upsetting
so baby Ferenc Puskas to you, to you
Baby Ferenc Puskas to you

You know its a shame
but were never the same
on account of your stupid amnesia
through teardrops i stare
at the wall its now bare
and i reach for the milk of magnesia
and ill die on the floor
and leave a note on the door
saying 'this ape has just left Gibraltar'
and in hell it will rain
and ill say once again
that id stand next to you at the altar

If only youd give me my Lev Yashin poster back
six months ago i returned your brown anorak
but you keep forgetting
and its far too upsetting
so baby Ferenc Puskas to you, to you
Baby Ferenc Puskas to you
with boots on
