Best... Now The Worse!

Griffin, with the greatest respect and sympathy for the subject matter, you keep answering your own question! The tiny girl, you've told us, CANNOT and WILL NOT be given new lungs, due to prematurity. That's got nothing to do with whether it's right or wrong, it's probably predicated on the likelihood of survivability - premees are notoriously fragile to surgical procedures.

If there are spare lungs, give them to those dying of lung disease. Donated organs are usually granted to those with the best-estimated rates of survivability. There are people who work very, very hard, and because of it they induce heart attacks. By your logic, they shouldn't receive new hearts, because they've caused their own heart attacks by working too hard! There's no morality attached to any of this stuff - it is what it is.

So why should a smoker deserve a new pair of lungs to replace the ones they destroyed yet an innocent child cannot have lungs because she was born early? What makes a smoker more deserving? The rules suck :(
....because of the amount of tax they have paid into the system.

Like I said in my first post, where do you draw the line? After we rule out the alcoholics and the smokers and the drug users, who's next? Fat people?

That sounds fair to me. Fat people should be on the list, they take up far too much space on planes for instance, and a lot of them smell.

Similar arguments exist for tall people so lets put them on the list. The end result will be that we only treat skinny little twats and end up with a nation of Willie Carsons.

And necrophiliacs as well. We're giving them body parts and as soon as we turn our backs they're slipping our dead relatives a length.

Cause they've paid more tax than you all their lives to enable the government to pay for their new lung.

SIMMO under your theory the mature/aged? should take precedence over younger people then????(having paid more taxes on time spent living) which you and I know does not really happen,(its normally the other way around) that cant be put foreword as a topic for debate can it????
