Betfair Hurdle

Not to hijack the thread but following on from DO - the general level of information available about British Racing is very poor - Near impossible to find future entries and no one appears to report trainer/jockey reaction post race similar to how irishracing.com does so well

Thanks, DO. It's the 19th for Weights, but it's the 9th for Entries, so we could maybe see some betting this time next week.

Granger, it's dependent on the horse getting an entry, and the price being suitable. The thief in me wants 33/1, but the pragmatist tells me I'll be happy with 20/1. The actual entry-price into the market could literally be anything, so it's all very tenuous at this stage. But it's implausible enough a theory (bit of a Straw-Man doodling, really), for the target yoke to be up where I'd like him.

All will be revealed when betting-opens (and I have had my fill - that's the thief in me again ), but I'll warn you now, I do expect plenty of scoffs and derision, once it's out there!

I can't believe I mis-read the original request, GH.

But at least we got there!

If we happen to alight on the same yoke might be an idea to go in double-strength :)

To be fair, I was on the BHA website earlier today (http://www.britishhorseracing,com), and found it very easy to navigate to current handicap marks, and recent form. I don't know about Entries, Breeding etc, but as a free utility, it gave me exactly what I needed, and the overall experience was much better than I expected.

I associate you with this race as you put up one that either one or ran well beyond it's price a few years back

The more left field the better, January is a great time for derision

Ch'tibello didn't disgrace himself at Kempton, when five lengths behind Yanworth. Has his mark been revised from 145 yet?

Yeah probably GH. FWIW Timeform have raised Ch'tibello to 151. At the same time they say My Tent Or Yours might be worth an entry with his falling handicap mark. This is the Timeform piece.

"My Tent Or Yours (remains on 164) had excuses in fourth (asked to harry The New One from a long way out) and he might be worth a Betfair Hurdle entry given his falling handicap mark. Third-placed Ch’tibello (151) was the only one to improve his rating, but he could be harder to place now."

From just the above two I'd be much more interested in Ch'tibello personally.

Mmm, piqued my interest. Scoffing eh, L'ami Serge? Off 152 which seems reasonably fair. Doesn't stay 20f, no ground issues.

Bank Holiday delays?

That's what I was thinking. I was expecting them to be in this week's Weekender, though, which should mean they should be up. I'll check one or two others who will definitely have gone up and see if they're listed.

Yes to 149. RPR has him at 158 and TF at 150. I think most of them ignored how many lengths he finished beh Yanworth because the latter was not suited by the track, therefore TF has YW at 168 master rating and OHR at 164. RPR at 165. I think he can improve to 170 come March and capable of getting the better of Annie.

I might need to watch the race again, but my thoughts at the time was that it was a solid performance from Yanworth. However, I don't think he won on the bridle by any means did he? He'll need to improve again to win the Champion Hurdle, which he may well do. As for Ch'tibello, if the Official handicapper has only raised him 4 pounds, he strikes me as a lively contender for this handicap. As I'm guessing he'd carry no more than 11 stone.

Didn't think Ch'tibello was there to win in the Christmas hurdle but he'll have to go some off his revised mark.

Dan, If he finished 5 lengths behind Yanworth, 3 lengths behind The New One, (both mid 160's horses),then 149 makes him look like a horse that is still actually handicapped to win a big handicap hurdle. He's only had 8 runs over hurdles thus far, has just turned 6 years of age, while he isn't no Champion Hurdler, I personally think he is interesting in either the Betfair or the County Hurdle. I reckon connections will seize the opportunity to win another valuable pot this season, as by next season, I agree they'll struggle to place him. But its too early to start that talk now, imho. He stayed on stoutly to the finish line on Boxing Day which I liked as well. He stayed the trip well in the end.

Anthony Bromley reports that L'Ami Serge will go to Haydock Champion Hurdle Trial, then the National Spirit, and then Champion Hurdle.

I fail to see how failing to beat Agrapart could possibly entitle him to a CH entry. Did they grew some balls since last season when they avoided Douvan and got their 2 horses beat in the JLT instead..
