A list of BNP members has been leaked online

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7736405.stm

A list showing the full contact details of British National Party activists has been published online.
The BNP says the list, which includes home phone numbers and e-mail addresses, dates from 2007 and some people are no longer members.
BNP deputy leader Simon Darby called it "an underhand political attack", saying an ex-employee was to blame.
Party leader Nick Griffin has complained to Dyfed Powys Police, who are investigating.
Mr Darby said the publication could lead to identity theft and endanger children named in the list.
He believes it was posted on Monday night by an ex-employee who had used it to send out party information to members.
Earlier this year the party obtained an injunction from the High Court in Manchester banning any publication of the list.
The anti-immigration party has won council seats in recent years, and took a London Assembly seat in May.

As someone was likely to start this thread, I thought I would get in first.

DO NOT post links to the list or post any personal information from it on here as publishing it is a breach of the data protection act, and we could be closed down.

Use google if you want to see it!

Oh dear. Full names, addresses, emails and phone numbers. A veritable treasure trove for the identity thief.

Unfortunately there's so many news organisations glogging google up by telling the world of the existance of this list, and message boards imploring people not to re-produce it..... that I can't find the bloody thing!!!

I'd be moderately interested to check a few people who I've come across before now. I wonder how many closet racists in positions of authority and responsibility have been outed? Might be a few job loses coming out from this?.... provided anyone can actually find the damn thing

I've got it now folks, and a moderately interesting read it is too.

Col? I note many of the mainstream media websites are reporting things such as occupation types, general geographical spread by region, ages, and hobbies etc Are we to assume that this is clear? In fact it must be as you've supplied the BBC link?

I presume so, however under the DPA you mustn't publish any information that could be used to identify anyone.

I hadn't heard that, but would expect it to get into the public domain before too much longer, if true. There's certainly no shortage of what you might call familiar names but no suggestion that these anything other than people who just happen to have a common name with a more famous person (even if a few brought a smile to my face).

I heard Griffin on the radio this morning desperately trying to reassure the 99% of his membership, that they had nothing to fear from their employers other than how to spend their compensation money as the law was on their side. I wouldn't be so certain myself. He listed the police and prison staff as the two groups that had clauses about membership, but my own reading of it would be that other public sector workers whose posts are subject to "politically restricted activity" would probably be affected too? There's also an issue of ASOR which is a kind of 'catch all' clause for dismissing employees, and can be used quite peniciously. If someone's membership was found to be the source of causing unreasonable work place relations, and was impacting detrimentally on the business/ organisation either in terms of customers or internal industrial relations to the point that it was becoming dysfunctional then I'm not sure that ASOR couldn't be invoked? In any event, life could be made very uncomfortable for any employee with a series of disciplinary charges made against them, or other ways found to conjure up pressure.

It's difficult to do the sums, but membership is at 10,000 with some indication that it costs in the region £40 to join (i think that might be a family membership though - buy one get one free) so perhaps £30 might be nearer. If 33% - 40% of the membership took fright and resigned it could cost them close to £100,000 in subscriptions alone.

I note the blog that most of used to access the list has been removed and the address is no longer available

I would hope that any organistion firing off BNP members has the guts to have a look at extremist muslims within their midst too.

In general terms I agree with you, clivex. I guess the problem is that there is no "Bomb The Infidel" party to which these people sign up. It's more nefarious than that.

True. The big question here is whether the political beliefs should be a consideration re the employment. Difficult isnt it?

Were any of Ken livingstones £150k a year "race advisors" on the list?

If a list of extremist muslims was disclosed, you can bet that that Liberty cow Chakrabarti would be squealing all over the press about how its a conspiracy and how lives are put at risk and so on

Will we hear from her about the danger some of these BNP members will be put under now?

No fcking chance

No... I barred your number for one

Not in a million years would i be on that list. Have absolutely no time for their beliefs. Not in the slightest. As far away from mine as you can get (although i can symptahise alittle with the white working class in certain areas of the country...who are patrionmised and despised by much of the far left).

She probably would be Clive, but that wouldn't make her any worse than Nick Griffin, who was spouting off his usual guff on Radio 4 this morning.

Bit ironic that if the BNP ran the show, none of us would be worrying about the DPA!

Clive, would you honestly be comfortable with a police officer being a card-carrying BNP member? I find it nigh on impossible to see how he could separate his political 'ideology' from his duties as an officer.

Not to mention what it would do to views of the police in minority areas.

no more than a history teacher being a muslim fundamentalist say...

I am not happy with either scenario. My point is that facists on one side have been gleefully targeted today but you can bet your life that possibly even more dangerous facists of a different origin would have had all the usual suspects banging on about "their rights" if the same exposee occured

But Griffin, like him or not, is protecting his constituency. That self publicising liberty midget is supposedly (no chance) impartial. Her organisation is supposed to be for the human rights of all individuals...even BNP ones

If a list of extremist muslims had been disclosed, I am fairly confident your posts on this thread would have an altogether different slant. I don't think you would be too worried about any of the names on that list being placed in any "danger".

Of course, neither list should ever see the light of day and no person on such a list should be persecuted for their political beliefs.

Trackside - couldn't agree more about the BNP and the DPA, classic.

Beggars belief your posts. Not only do you immediately contradict yourself but you also make assumptions about my views (and miss point entirely) which are arrogant and stupid (bit like your laughable football posts)

Any list is dangerous. The paedo lists in the NOTW were a disgrace.

My point is (again) that we will not here from the pathetic left about human rights now will we?

LOL....re phrase. Nice one warbler

You have made arrogant and stupid assumptions about my views ..should have been

(thats putting it mildly though)
