Bookies are all theifs

I have to be honest I dont think I've ever fought a Margaret or for that matter I can't recall ever having had the pleasure of a Margaret either. Happy to tick either one off the list tbh.

I'm doubtless thinking about this a lot more than I should.

When people make postings like this - and this is by no means the first and pre internet back in the day I used to hear remarks like this in betting shops - what is their motive?

Do they seek feedback (maybe hoping to find kindred spirits) or are they just using the forum as a vehicle for a rant?

The other paradox here is the username - to me, it's an interesting one, I googled it and the closest I could find was the late Margaret Pellegrini, who played a Munchkin in The Wizard Of Oz.

It's too deliciously obscure to be a neat fit with the tone and grammatical construction of the posting.

No wonder I'm scared - I'm typing this from behind the sofa, where I've sought refuge ever since first being terrified by the Cybermen in the 1960s!

Mr Hill the bookie on the phone "Aidan, slight problem here, can you take out Charles Darwin in the next?"
Aidan "Listen Mr Hill... Declan, John, Paul, Steve, Robert, Imogen, Kathleen have all worked hard on getting Charles Darwin ready for this"
Mr Hill "I get that and I wouldn't ask but a customer Margaret Pellegrini stands to win the placepot you see"
Aidan "Sure, anything for you Mr Hill"
Mr Hill "Great.!! oh sorry, one more thing do you have a non tryer I can make favourite?"

"theif (plural theives or theifs)
Obsolete spelling of thief."

I am now convinced Margaret is either several hundred years old and/or a time traveller.

Either way, I'm staying behind the sofa - you don't mess with an ancient Time Lord (or Time Lady)!

Hi, I was just having a look at this and I think maybe she has had some bad experiences regarding races/ bookies and just wanted to let off steam.
