Britain At The Bookies

Let's see if they show people getting knocked back etc

Managers having to clean the bogs
Somehow I doubt it just free advertising for which ever firm it is !

Whats wrong with managers cleaning the bogs? It's character building.

Apparantly 'making it safer' was minister Tessa Jowells noble aim when she sanctioned the FOBT's...obviously wishful thinking by her and her colleagues.

But then there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and things could only get better. :)

My only hope when all is said and done is they will give some money to the NHS who will be footing the bill for chronic problem-gambling in years to come...

Excellent episode tonight.
I enjoyed that!

Particularly liked the flat-capped Doncaster racegoer punting a quid at 20/1 .......... and winning. :)

Yes very good tonight
Steve Palmer just captures the emotions and the philosophy of the average half-savvy punter perfectly.

Yes, I think most of us on here would relate to him far more than to the various talking heads we get on the Morning Line.

Wouldn't mind any tips from that yorkshire Norman Wisdom, punching above his weight with his bird too.
7/2 and two 20/1 winners and only £40 up though would be gutting

He surely has discovered what must be the greatest winning "system" ever ............... horse's foot size.
F**k form, weight, and visor declarations; I demand that the BHA and Racing Post publish the foot size data for all horseracing cards. :D

lol he must have great eyesight, hooves look much of the same, maybe a cpl of millimetres here n there but crikey I would find it impossible to judge if one had a bigger foot than the other from the paddock

Who is the great bookmaker who is prepared to lay owners whatever they want. ? Anyone know him. Nice offices but I didn't recognise them

Hate to tell you but it really can make a difference. Big feet = soft ground. Small feet = firmer ground. Think snow shoes, spreading the weight out over the snow - bigger surface area means you are less likely to sink. All the racehorses I have ridden in my life with bigger feet have invariably preferred soft ground. Its something I always look for if there are extremes of going. Also if you watch a horse's movement, those with a low, flicking action are going to prefer quicker ground, whereas a horse with a big pounding knee action will appreciate plenty of give.

i think the point you make is valid Jinny..and obviously makes sense..one question though?..how on earth can you actually see any variation in size whilst they are walking past you in the parade ring..they just look the same..or similar surely..i haven't tried looking..but i will next time i go.

What makes you think that I am rubbishing the idea? :)
It makes perfect sense to me; when I called on the RacingPost to publish horses' foot size, I was only half joking. :ninja:
"Flat-Cap Andy" could well have stumbled on something -- hoof size got him two 20/1 winners from 3 picks at Donny anyway.

how do you know they didn't film him having 100 picks?
