British horsemen’s group minimum prize money tariffs

I'd say that's just how it works and should be used to demonstrate the amateurish research that went into setting Tariff's in the first place.
 
Haven't got the quote handy, but Paul Dixon said there was no evidence that tariffs have played a part in the downgrading of races which has unquestionably happened. This Haggas case is concrete proof that he's wrong.

I have sympathy with BHA in cases like this. Who are they doing a favour if Thirsk/Haggas come knocking on door and say can we call this a class 5 not a class 4.
 
Can someone explain why we need this Ascot meeting this Saturday ? Where has it come from ?

You probably want to be sitting down. I'm a fan of consolation races when they are filled with in-form runners, but the opening sprint is truly desperate. Only one of the 14 runners reached the frame last time, and that came when beaten nearly 5 lengths in a seller. A race which simply cannot be justified.
