Broadband

BT have upgraded my Braodband to 2.2Mb without even telling me. Pretty good. I was downloading something today and it was averaging about 1.97Mb/sec which I was impressed with.

Hold your bets. I am on hold with them at the moment having just received an email stating that my monthly price wil be £29.50 per month for months 2-6 and then £41.50!!! after that. Looks like I will be staying with Telewest. I asked the bloke every conceivable question and was assured it was £17.50 per month. B@stards.

? Don't you have to have the BT line replaced with Bulldog.
Line rental certainly passes to bulldog but, their web site doesn't make it clear whether they actually replace any part of the line which was why I asked the question of PDJ. As I said, if they don't replace anything then why are they the only ones offering 8mb if the existing lines accomodate this.

PDJ, You may find that £41.50 includes line rental which you'll no longer need to pay BT.

I was given the option of moving my line to them and declined as I have a beter deal with Telewest.

Having just spoken to them here is my deal.

£17.50 for unlimited 8Meg broadband. (for the first 6 months but with no contract, then £29.50 after that)
£12 per month line rental including free national and local calls at any time

I am going to go with that as it seems pretty good to me.

I got connected to tiscali this morning as it seemed the most sutiable package for my needs. I'm not into downloading music etc so all I need is a fast connection and no usage limitation problems.

Paul, I've got a bulldog leaflet here which states "unlimited local and national calls for £12 a month". Certainly doesn't mention that the £12 includes line rental.

I now need to order at least two adsl filters for other phone points in the house (the ones in use).

I've gone to Kelkoo and seen some prices but would like to know if anyone can recommend anything: either the filter itself or a reliable company from which to order them.

From what I read on their website they disconnect your line from the bt network at the exchange and connect it to the cable and wireless network. Whether I've read that correctly, or not, they don't have to do any work in your house.

I started a thread on the betfair forum re bulldog. It seams their customer service is dire and a lot of their customers had bad problems for several weeks last year.
