Bunbury cup

Trueshan was running against horrendous boats though. 7f division much better at the handicap level in terms of unexposed talent coming through. I thought Noble Truth won the Jersey despite doing a lot wrong and one of the reasons he managed that was because the field was very sub par

I also thought NT won the Jersey despite doing a lot wrong - didn't win anywhere near as far as my figures suggested it might/should/could.

But the ones that were next home were rated much higher than Find. Take NT out of the race and even allowing for a sub-par renewal, his mark of 93 looks ridiculous. (I said 99 above but I was just home from the hospital and my eye was very iffy.)

I still suspect he won't make the cut, though, so we'll never really know about that mark.

I think he will definitely get in D. If my eyes havent deceived me hes 17th in the field.

Your eyes are worse than mine, Outsider

29th in the list. Are you looking at the same owners' Titan Thingmy?

Yes. Weight allotted rather than OR.

It's why there have been stooshies about the Ebor handicapping in recent years.

I've got Star Of Orion 50/1 and Rhoscolyn 66/1 backed for it antepost, and I've just added Ropey Guest at 25/1. He looks dangerous off his mark, and Callum Rodriguez's 5lb claim for this looks like a plan.

I'm not sure about Find, and I take the same view as Euro, but I'd probably feel different if I'd snaffled the bigger price.

I've missed the fancy prices about SOI and I've been keeping an eye on Rhoscolyn this season. My gut has been nagging at me, "Golden Mile".

This prompted me to check the Goodwood race to see when the weights came out. Turns out they're already out so I checked the O'Meara entries and decided Azano was worth a pop at 66/1 (5 places). Ex-French, which he does well with, and working his mark down. Currently #27 in the weights so likely to make the cut (max 20). It just strikes me as a potential O'Meara plot.

That's 2 good pricesMaruco. Rhoscolyn as been running well and I'm like DO in thinking golden mile.
Find doesnt get in .

I've taken 13/2 Samburu (BOG) because he’s 8lbs well in and it probably should be more since Dettori went too soon on him in the Jersey and he’s better than the bare form. I reckon if the jockey can hold back his kick for another half-furlong he’ll be hard to stop. (Wouldn't have beaten Find, though.)

I'm with Cruyff Turn each way. He could be interesting back down to seven furlongs. I think he's best of the longshots and I would be happy if he could finish in the places.

I've got Star Of Orion 50/1

You got the price well there. I was convinced after Ascot that the International was the only target but thinking back he went into my tracker last year when he won here on the July course before that second on King George day. I can't see him win this with my money on another race and 12/1 isn't terrible with plenty of places.

I'll follow you in on Star Of Orion actually.

Gone off Cruyff Turn.

Montassib is favourite (5/1) but I’d have Samburu (6/1 taken, BOG, boosted to 13/2) ahead of him because he’s 8lbs well in and it probably should be more since Dettori went too soon on him in the Jersey and he’s better than the bare form. I reckon if the jockey can hold back his kick for another half-furlong he’ll be hard to stop. I’ll think about back-up material on Saturday morning.

I was just trying to find some jockey/ trainer combinations and came across an article by David Ashworth from 28th March 2019 saying keep an eye open for when K.T.Oneill rides for J.Gosden.
He was booked for SAMBURA at least a week ago.

I shouldnt read too many things as a they can be demoralizing.
High numbers best....Bless him drawn 3.
Jockeys with poor records.....Jamie Spencer 10 rides no wins.

I’ll think about back-up material on Saturday morning.

I've now added Silent Film 22/1 and Persuasion 40/1, both 6 places (& BOG). I backed SF in the Hunt Cup and have to forgive him that run, which is easy to do given his draw. I don't think he got a hard race once it was obvious he was badly drawn. In my ratings table I had a 't' beside Persuasion so something about its form must have been applied to a race over another trip. On checking, its best form [last season] was at this trip on fast ground and it's now well-handicapped on that and the trainers are more than capable of landing a big one.

Gone with Vafortino and Persuasion e.w

Vafortino got absolutely cabbaged at Ascot, Benoit taking the 5 off, hopefully gets a clear run today

Unsatisfactory race on several levels.

I wrote on the other thread:

I'm wondering if there's marginally better ground on the near side.

My immediate thoughts are that they've gone fastest near side and the pace has collapsed, allowing Bless Him to come through. Hope somebody managed to find the winner.
