Buying a Camera for Racing Photography

Ah - but you only dont have access because you choose not to - its not like youve been refused!!!! And Im quite sure you have been sent bits of the story - the people who send bits out seem to take great pleasure editing things with the intention of making things look far worse than they are. Its stupid, childish and (imo) unnececcary.

If you want the whole thing (and Kri doesnt send you it!) let me know, and I'll happily copy it over - Im sure noone there will mind - like I said above, theres nothing on it that is backstabbing of anyone, weve got nothing to hide!!!

ANYWAY - BACK TO THE CAMERAS???

I hope I ain't offended An..I just couldn't resist it..sorry An..in advance:)

Don't be silly EC1. I dish out enough and my comment was designed to draw some disrespect anyway.

Besides it is true. I do look lovely in a Sony photo.

It's a reference to Dims three types of photographers she refers to in her earlier post on the thread.
It was just one of my typically naff attempts at trying to be funny.

What lens does your wife have An C? Is it just Sony lens which are compatible or is there others (eg - Tamron, Minolta etc)?

There are third party lenses available, and a lot of the Mintola will fit too, but the price has been driven up on second hand ones because of this

Lets stop the fighting on this thread please, honestly I think some people could start a fight in an empty room.

The only further point I am making is pretty much contained in my signature. The 'Jackanory' thread on Atacanta is not - as two members on here believe - about them other than the one post made by Krizon and which, I believe, she emailed to Headstrong. If they chose to believe otherwise, then feel free but there's nothing anyone can do about that! It says more about anyone who spends their time trawling through a forum they don't contribute to, cutting and pasting items to forward to non-members than any comments the rest of us care to make in my opinion!

It was pretty heavy sadly. My local Currys has 2 D60s on offer at £299.99 with £50 cashback from Nikon before Sunday, after my antics at Nad Al Sheba yesterday I've got a bit more of a budget and I am heavily considering it as it's lighter than the Sony and seems like a top camera. Anyone know how it compares to say the D40?

One thing I noticed in the shop which might be a retarded question... can you not use the LCD screen to shoot through on SLRs and do you have to use the viewfinder?

It's a no brainer if I can get a D60 for £250 this weekend, no only battle remaining in my head is whether I really want a full SLR for when I go away in March carrying it round a second world country in tropical heat, if I do I'll go down to Currys this weekend, if not I may go for the Sony H50 bridge camera.

I don't think you can, at least you can't on the D40 & the D80, but & its a big but, using the LCD rather than the viewfinder can lead to more blurring of photo's
If you think about it, you can hold a camera a lot steadier if it is cose to you body than if you are holding it with your arms out using the LCD if you know what I mean!

Thanks all, I've bit the bullet and gone with the Nikon D60, £270 with £30 cashback from Nikon which seemed a good deal. Decided if I got a bridge camera I'd only want another SLR in a few years and figured it was worth investing in this one and save spending more in a few years.

Hoping to go to Doncaster with it on Friday so I may post some amateur pictures on Friday.

Well done, I'd be really interested in how you get on with it,

One other thing although the instruction manuals seem quite good get yourself down to a decent waterstones (or online) & get one of the independant books, I bought one for my D40 & D80 they are fanstastic, can't remember the guy's name who writes them but they are well worth a tenner

Couldn't get close to the action as the jumps track is rightly at the centre of the track further away from the stands, got some ok paddock shots though, they improved as the afternoon went on as I realised I had the ISO too high early on. Feel free to move them to the Photography section but here they are:

I am absolutely thrilled (genuinely) that so many people have independently supported Headstrong on this thread. I would have done if I hadn't been banned and then on a quick break in the sun!

I will no doubt continue to be told of those people that think it is big and clever to talk about people on forums that they don't even belong to.

Anyway, I continue to take loads of poxy quality photos and I love my little camera (Sony Cyber Shot:<3:) if anyone is remotely interested.;)
