Calling bargain hunting experts...

I think trying to save money on something like this is a false economy - the time you and others will spend on this makes the savings very little for the effort you put in.

Indeed, 221 views at a minimum 30 secs a view gives us around 1 hour and 50 minutes, if we add 25% for time people have invested trying to answer the query 'off forum' we have a total of 2hours 45mins. Even at minimum wage that equates to around £16 of total man-hours. So you have, really, (even if you managed to save a tenner or so on the perfume) thanks to this thread, share the cost across it's readers - when Mrs Orchid thanks you for the gift, tell her you're welcome, from me!
:)

So how much did your reply cost you, Steve? :)

If you take that view, then regular shopping would work out vastly more expensive. If I'm on the forum anyway to pass time at lunchtime or whenever, I don't consider that on a monetary basis.

On the other hand, time spent researching cars, car prices etc, I do consider in terms of offsetting what I eventually pay. If I spend a few hours a week for a few weeks and end up saving a four-figure sum then it is indeed time 'invested'.

If Algipan were still on the market, I'd get her a tube of that, DO, because that is what Chanel No 5 smells like! :D

For me, that scent is very over-rated.

I've never liked Chanel stuff but ended up buying other half some aftershave last night which is Chanel Homme sport which smells lovely, very fresh smelling!

The scent doesn't do anything for me. I can't think of one that does. I don't like women to wear perfume. Or make up. I don't wear after shave either.

That's all irrelevant, though. It's what she likes and has asked for.

Calvinist! I suppose Mrs Orchid's allowed one pair of plain, black, sensible shoes? With perhaps a light sandal if it's a really hot summer?

Unfortunately (for me), Mrs O has more clothes than a Warner Bros wardrobe.:confused::mad:

I have enough shirts, ties and underwear but manage to rotate two suits and two pairs of trousers until they wear out. I have a 'good' suit (my Rooster Booster suit) and shoes which are reserved for weddings, funerals and interviews.

I thought of treating myself to another good suit when my 120 about New Approach for the Derby paid off but I decided I'd wait until I felt it was OK to let go of some more worn out item and move the Rooster Booster suit down the pecking order to make way for something new.

You've seen me Kri. Flashy I aint...

I still feel a bit guilty about dropping you that tenner and saying, "That ought to get you a bed in the hostel tonight, mate. All the best!"
