Why would somebody write a book and syndicate it the Sundays describing in detail her mother's dementia? What is it with these people? Is there nothing they won't do for attention?

Well we know she no heart. But do we need to know so much about the wasting of her brain?

Not sure what Carol's reasons are for writing such a book about her poor Mum who probably has lucid days and knows (on these days) what is going on around her. I hope to God it isn't money motivated, but I am yet to see any other explanation.

Yeah, shame on her. She should take a leaf out of her brother's book, and do something more dignified like attempt to overthrow African governments to make a scratch.

"Poor mum"...............hoho!! - laughing my tackle off at that one. I only hope that she comes down with manic incontinence too.

Goes with the type of posting I now often expect on this forum, Venusian. So sad the way the standards on TH have been allow to slip.

I'm not an apologist for Grassy, he's well able to fight his own corner, but, Ven and Kathy are you aware of how many lives were ruined by that woman's policies.

Any vitriol aimed at her is easily justified if you were one of those people.

As far as I'm concerned Venusian, there are any amount of reasons why I shouldn't feel any pity whatsoever for Thatcher's current predicament, and I really couldn't give two hoots that you find my post "revolting". In fact, I'm sure Mrs T would think my position of not giving a toss quite admirable, given she spent her entire political life with the exact same attitude to those less fortunate than herself.

Kathy, maybe my contribution is a manifestation of slipping standards, however, I can at least content myself that at no stage did I drone on endlessly about Northern Rock in my previous post.

Wishing more ill health on an already ill woman is pretty sick.

Me talking about Northern Rock and the failure of many banks (is that all the dirt you could dish on me as a comparison) hardly compares in my eyes.

I have no need or desire to do any digging of dirt on anyone - it's more than I could be arsed to do. It was merely an observation.

As for my post being "sick", maybe it was and maybe it wasn't - I guess it's for the individual to decide. You have made your own position clear in that regard. I do take issue with your assertion that it is a manifestation of 'slipping standards' on this forum - I was merely expressing an opinion.

If the Mods are not comfortable with it, I'm sure they will either warn me or bullet me as they see fit.

I am sure the Mods on here will be comfortable with your comment, Grasshopper. I am quite certain you have nothing to worry about on that score.

The Banks, the housing market and the recession in this country are currently my pet topics so I may be posting on the Northern Rock thread again. You have been warned.

Why do you post here if other peoples opinions offend your sensibilities.
You have insulted all the contributors and the moderators in this thread....by the way ...feel free not to answer.

Quite a few by incompetent socialist goverments too some might say. Quite a few lives uplifted by thatchers revolution. little doubt that if we had continued with year 1979 for the next ten, we would be in some mess now...

We'd have been in a mess circa 1995 when it was discovered that the Koreans, Chinese, Indians, Malaysians could manufacture all our products at half the price.

We really would be up the creek by now - we may not all agree with what Thatcher did (with manufacturing and the coal mines) but anyone who thinks that we'd still be mainly those industries today is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Britain is a service centred country and it will stay that way for many years to come.

Please terminate my membership of this forum with immediate effect.

Venusian, that, if I may say, seems a melodramatic and unnecessary move, and I hope you will reconsider.

If you are offended by my posts, they should be easy enough for you to ignore in future, without taking this step.

No rules have been broken on this thread. A public room is a bit like a room full of strangers, I would think (hope!) that Grasshopper would not shout out what he posted to a group of strangers so it would be preferable if it did not happen here!

As for Ven, he is a super poster and it would be a shame to lose him. Let’s get the thread back on track from here on here; I am sure An Capall did not want it to result in this!!!!:)

I hate to disappoint, Gal, but I would have no qualms about repeating it to a room full of strangers.

In my own defence, my use of the term 'manic incontinence' (why not just 'incontinence'?) was intended to be moderately humourous, but obviously missed the mark. Can't win them all.

I also hope that Venusian reconsiders.
