The adrenaline is pumping, the heartbeat is raised. This is what it's all about. I'd nearly forgotten it. And I live for it.

This is what needs the persistence. The resilience.

Come on baby, fight for it, fight for it, keep going, keep running, fight, fight, fight. No, get away, he's coming, he's coming, run, run, run. No shit, he's gonna get us, he's gonne get us, he done us, he done us...no he didn't, he didn't, did he, did he, he did, no, you might just have held it. You might just have held it.

Been a bit busy. Working on a couple of SEO projects, both with deadlines. Good news, though, first time I've been paid (for 'work') since retiring from the day/life job last October. Not much. But will help.

Horses. Up and down. Some good winners. Several losers, but the 33+ up to 66 shots have been getting close. A few in the frame, one or two done by inches. But nothing big landed. Overall, horses bank down far enough that it was getting mildly concerning.

Be resilient, Chaumi. Come on. The next big winner is always around the corner.

But I did not expect it to be today.

The dog had woke me up at 3 this morning. But I didn't realise it was 3, for some reason brain was saying around 6am. So got up and naturally, after sorting out the dog (and getting the pants back on, she is on), settled down with cup of tea, laptop on lap, scanning the runners).

Made a note of about 5 or 6 possibles from the UK meetings.

Runners in France hadn't been doing well. Had nearly made the decision to leave them alone. But at the last second noted there was a jumps meeting, and I have a jumps notebooker I'm waiting for.

It wasn't down to run, but I kept scrolling and had a quick scan through Pau AW.

And there they were - two Almanzor maidens in the same race. They went on the list.

It's about 4am now, went back to sleep on the sofa. Dog would already be stretched out fast akippo on the bed. No room.

7am, splitting headache, can't face the morning walk. Done some work. Generally the morning just disappeared on - can't even remember what.

Half one. Just get 15 minutes head down, wake up for the 1.50 at Ayr. Set the alarm for 1.45.

1.45 Oh shit, the Pau race. Quick login, there they are, one minute to the off. One's showing 400+ SP, 66 available, the other around 30 available and mid 40s SP. But the brain quickly knew that hitting at SP would likely drop it heavily, and the available odds wouId likely be much higher. Split the stake, equal on each. The big one got 157, the other one around 32.

Last second stuff, they're off.

And the f$%^ing doorbell rang. Some great big van with some sort of delivery. Had to get the dog away, couldn't catch her, took about 30-40 seconds.

I'm sorry mate, just give me 2 minutes, watching a race. I'll be with you. He's unloading some massive sheets of some sort of plastic Beth must have ordered.

Get back to the laptop. And one of mine is last. Where's the other one? Oh shit, he's 12-15 lengths clear and they're on the final bend.

Come on baby. Come on baby.

Jockey looks between his legs, no sign of stopping, nothing's coming, nothing's coming.

A furlong out. And I'd realised it's the big one that's in front. But they're coming. They're coming now. Where's the line. come on fight, keep running, don't fold. And one bugger is flying down the outside like someone has lit something.

One stride past the line I swear he's half a length up. But they keep showing the finish. And the more I look, the more it looks like it was a half inch call.

******************

The big one gets it. And the 2nd...guess what....was the other one!!!

I take about 30 minutes to calm down :) And I'm still not sure the heartbeat is back to normal.

That's what it's all about.

Chaumi is back. Comeonnnnnnnnnnn.

Be persistent. Be resilient.

PS I do not even/ever wanna know what that forecast paid. The one good thing there is...there would have been no mechanism (I know of) for doing it.

Well, well, well....and Dubai Days does a big favour at around 20s. Thanks Nick! And Lucinda's almost gets back for the forecast after seemingly getting caught flat-footed with a few to jump.

Could there be more?

Let's see if we can tell the future instead of delighting in the past.

Ami Bondhu looks good at an enticing-enough 10s in the next at Plumpton.

But what's this? A Barry Brennan runner on first run for the stable, after a long layoff. Logic says next time or the one after. But 38 looks worth a small risk.
