I saw an article headline on The Racing Post Website earlier: the crux of the article was that this.meeting should be scrapped. I need to revisit the article in full, but surely tomorrow is a top class day of racing, so who would want to scrap it? Now I do prefer the jumps to the flat to the power of approximately 3:1 but as someone who can manage to bare the flat, I have to admit this day genuinely has some class racing. The British equivalent of Breeders Cup night?

For what it's worth, (which given my form isn't much), I thought Jim Bolger's Verbal Dexterity would run well tomorrow with his preferred cut in the ground. He can run into a place at around 16/1. The one issue is that there are exactly eight runners as I type, so one non runner would mess my plan up.

I think it might have been an article about scrapping the Qipco Champions Series rather than Champions day itself.

I'm more like 6:4 in favour of the jumps so I'm pretty cronk for tomorrow.

Meeting revolves around Cracksman for me. I have him as the second part of a double at 11/4 and he'd be a tidy winner. Will likely cover with Crystal Ocean in a multiple or two.

I've also done Recoletus and Harry Angel. The forner has a tough task against Roaring Lion but he shouldn't be priced the same as Lord Glitters and Addeybb. Harry Angel I'm prepared to risk as he's the best horse in the race at a tidy price. There doesn't seem to be a raft of potential spoilers near him either which will help.

The fillies race is a tough one to work out. Lah ti Dah seems short but I don't have full confidence in any of the opposition. Maybe last year's winner although she's shown nothing this year.

My bet of the day is Happily -I'm convinced she wasn't right in the summer-12/1 is a very fair price-I can see her winning here and following up at the Breeders Cup.
For small money it might be worth opposing the Gosden horses in the placepot -Stradavarius has had the hardest of campaigns ,Cracksman is capable of doing anything and has a worthy opponent in Crystal Ocean,Roaring Lion has been magnificent but this is his 8th race of the year and he is surely in the wrong race.

There is really good money about tonight for Son Of Rest. To deadheat in an Ayr Gold Cup means you are no back-number in any top class sprint, especially with the way he is progressing. He's the each way thieves bet.

Couldn't have Cracksman at any price. I firmly believe he's gone at the game, and the blinkers look more an act of desperation than any plan.
Capri would be the one for me, on the premise that his Arc run looked no more than pace insurance for Kew Gardens. Be far from the first time the stable's used a gp1 as a prep race.
Also followed Luke in on Happily.
Cracking card, and a fitting finale to what's been a great flat season.

Scrap the Champion Stakes..what Champions you may ask..Frankel sure Pebbles, the Brigadier, Bosra Sham and a few more but along list of second rate Group horses is the norm.

This year we have Cracksman and I imagine Moore will try to run them into the ground on Capri but the Gosden horse likes this ground and should go through it and muller them for speed.

The very fact I am suggesting Cracksman will win shows how poor a race it is.

Lah Ti Dar is a LAY for me

Tin Man looks a shoe in barring mishaps

Roaring Lion is what a Champion Miler should look like. He has gone from strength to Strength and is a great bet at 5/2 to make it 4 in a row

I've got the equiv of 40s given leg one of the double was 11/1.

Aye, good luck with that, Euro - though it would take some perfomance to convince he was ever "3rd best horse in the world"
last season, or "Best middle distance horse in Europe" this.
Enable must be laughing into her manger this morning.

Not too enamoured with the ride on Coronet there - No cover at all and took the bend 5 wide and still only beaten a length.

Bet 365 Favourable EW terms will come in handy in the QE2 - Gabrial 40/1 7 places

40/1  Top bombing Euro
Must admit I was in the Cracksman gone at the game camp but it seems like when given his conditions he's another Citrus Des Aigles.

Some really enjoyable racing at Ascot yesterday.

Stradivarius, Roaring Lion and Cracksman all winning, what more could a racegoer want!

Have ascot missed a trick on Champions Day ?
Reported perfect going on the inside track that had not been watered during the summer.
Flat horses by and large prefer better ground so has an opportunity been lost , especially given the late date for Champions Day ?
Leopardstown use both tracks on Champions Day beginning in 2008 when the Saturday meet was postponed to Sunday to allow racing.
When you have better going available to you why not use it on such a flagship day ?

But why should horses who prefer a softer surface be disadvantaged yet again, they've been racing against other horses on ground firmer than they probably prefer all Summer, if it comes up softish on raceday so be it.

Serious after timing I know but I bet maybe once a year; know the guy who bought Sands Of Mali; got his ground yesterday, 33-1 thank you very much!
Roaring Lion- brilliant result.
How gorgeous is Lightning Spear? Good day, luckily only having to pay half price as tickets prices gone crazy.
