Cheltenham Going

CHELTENHAM'S going on the chase and hurdles course was changed to good to soft, good in places on Sunday after 12mm of rain fell on the track.

Would seem ideal at this stage. Weather looks perfect too, being warm and mostly dry, with a slightly unsettled spell Thur/Fri to keep the ground as it is.

1st day

Supreme Novice Hurdle

Good/Firm - faster than 3m51
Good getting Good/Firm - 3m51 - 3m52
Good - 3m52s to 3m55s
Yielding - 3m55s - 3m56
Good/Soft - 3m56 - 4m1
Soft - slower than 4m1

Arkle Trophy

Good/Firm - faster than 3m52
Good getting Good/Firm - 3m52 - 3m53
Good - 3m53s to 3m56
Yielding - 3m56 - 3m57
Good/Soft - 3m57 - 4m2
Soft - slower than 4m2
 
3.51.1 for the second race..mainly down to horse being above average winner i think..using cue cards time would be more appropriate..about 3.52.7 would be fair

would say looking at both races ..first one run a bit slow...that the ground is probably about middlish good tbh..Cue card run a decent time though..fastish good..maybe chase course slightly faster

that time was off Sporting life site..and wrong...apparently it is actually 3.52.7

this ties in with the Arkle time better and points to it being faster side of good

he said he wasn't watering tonight so times will be pretty quick tomorrow..soft grounders will struggle

Tuesday's ground was slightly faster than middle Good Ground

these are the middle "Good" times of each race compared to yesterdays times

Supreme ---- -----Good = 232.7 --- yesterday = 232.7 = 0.0
Arkle - ------------Good = 232.8 ---yesterday = 231.1 = 1.7 fast
Champion----------Good = 230.8----yesterday = 230.1 = 0.7 fast
Grade 3 chase---- Good = 370.8----yesterday = 368.6 = 2.2 fast

its fair to say had they run more evenly in the supreme it would also have been faster than true good.

using the 3 fastest times the per furlong correction is 0.08 fast..good to firm would start at 0.25 fast
