Where are we meeting guys, Plough,? Mandarin?

I will be at the Mandarin for the usual 4 days ,up against the bar near the bubble. Ready to buy a large G & T or pint for anyone who shows up:whistle:

Plough for breakfast.
Mandarin at various points of the days.
Members bar at all other times...
Oh and hospitality on Thursday.

The Plough , in the morning and after racing , will be in the Mandarin before racing on Tues to see Roddy. Art will be in town on Wed night , I take it you will be in your usual haunt ?

By the "Members terrace" do you mean the roof of the Tote building, where those of us who are disinclined to pay an extra £40 per day for a seat end up? Anyway, that's where I'll be for days 1-3, hopefully in the O&T marquee on day 4.

Been a few times to Cheltenham now, but don't seem to remember the Mandarin, whereabouts is it? Going to be there for the first 3 days, so I'd likely pop in for a pint or two.

The Mandarin Bar is the last bar on the ground level of the Main Grandstand, adjacent to the parade-ring. There was a massive statue of a green horse parked outside it two years ago, if anyone needs a further point of reference. The Arkle Bar is, I believe, above the Mandarin Bar, rather than below it.

Roddy can usually be found at the narrow-end of an exceedingly large G&T, at the corner of the bar (left-hand-side if entering from paddock-side) near the viewing-window (bubble).

He usually wears a distinctive linen suit and Welsh accent, to distinguish himself from lesser mortals.

I can usually be found sponging gin in his vicinity.

Wrong on so many levels :D

The Arkle bar is on ground level, the Mandarin Bar is the level above (according to Roddy, see further up the thread)
There is a Mandarin Restaurant on ground level.

It appears there is no official 'Mandarin Bar' on the Chelts website, DG, which is trange.

I always thought the Arkle Bar was the crappy, little one in the corridor underneath the stands? Maybe the 'Mandarin Bar' is considered one and the same place, and only acquired the name because it's below the restaurant?

Regardless of what it's called, I know exactly where Roddy will be, and it's as per my directions in the above post.

Yes confusing, the Arkle Bar has an outside area at the front of the grandstand as well and is where you walk through beside the old Tote Members room. The Mandarin restaurant doesn't have a bar as far as I recollect which is why I thought he meant the Arkle Bar.

Just to add to the confusion, when there in November the Mandarin had mainly been turned into an eatery with chairs and seating rather than a stand-up drinketeria. I hope they'll be back to normal configuration for the festival.

I think it was created just for Roddy tbh. Though hopefully we wont have any ginger barmen this year.

Another spanner in the works, I spent nearly my entire festival last year in the See You Then Bar, only to find it closed and used as some sort of makeshift staff room for every meeting this season!
