Same here. I've lost track of these things but when did they change the Cup away from the Wednesday?

I was disappointed on Monday when I couldn't find the race on the Wednesday card. It also end-loads my studying to the latter part of the week instead of spreading it more thinly. At least the 48h decs are a huge help.
 
She needs to be supplemented but if she is I reckon we've just seen Frankel's first English Classic winner. Taken Hills 8/1 (part of it boosted to c. 8.7/1)
 
Sir Dragonet is a VERY strong Derby contender. This is a serious quality horse. So green early on, great ride by Donnacha too.
 
Without knowing any of the figures, it occurred to me in the early stages that they must be going fast, with Moore and O'Brien seemingly happy to keep their horses well back. SD was ultimately visually impressive but the race appeared to be falling apart from some way out. Still, SD has fairly gubbed Norway. Then again, that one was sweating like a galley slave.
 
Well here’s why I like him. He was green no actually make that clueless early and Donnacha just sat so quiet, not hassling him in any way. He let the horse learn. Chester is a hard track for an inexperienced horse which is why AOB favours it as they have to learn on the job and it’s a great prep for Epsom. When he asked him, you could see the penny start to drop. It doesn’t matter that the race fell away, it’s the way the horse as an individual performed. He will come on SO much for that run. And physically he is a stunning horse.

Not disagreeing with that. I rely on people like you for gauging physical qualities and other stuff I can't see for myself with my untrained eye but it just looked like a nice winner of a bad race. I'll be happy if he goes on to run well at Epsom.
 
As I've mentioned before I listen to W Hill racing radio most days and Ken Pitterson was raving about how amazing Sir Dragonet looked before the race, so it was fascinating then watching the race unfold on the telly. Can't wait to see how this horse progresses throughout the season. Wish his name didn't make me think of a Monty Python sketch, though....

Fun Mac is entitled to go well on his best form – which has been first time up in this race in the last two seasons – but I was hoping for closer to 33/1 than 10/1. He could run his race and still find Austrian School and Cleonte laughing at him. These two against the field are the safe play. Austrian School looked a Group horse in a handicap at Musselburgh and is 5lbs well in under his small penalty. However, the trainer said he was more of an Ebor horse rather than a Northumberland Plate one so maybe this is stage one of the plan to get his mark back down. Cleonte is seen as a Melbourne Cup horse so he’ll need to go up the handicap a bit. He’s 4lbs well in after a career best last time, and that might just have been a prep for this. I’m going to risk backing him and leaving Austrian School alone.
 
Pretty much identical to me DO.

With great reluctance I have left Austrian School alone and plumped for Cleonte, mainly on the basis that, while you want a horse in a handy position it's not an easy race to try and make all in (which are likely tactics for Austrian School) and I'm hopeful that SDS will have Cleonte a bit handier than usual from his favourable draw and get a tow into the straight from the jolly.

Sorry for late reply. Original fancy not declared. Horse was called Markhan for Gordon Elliots yard, I reckon he's one to watch this season when he runs. Whiskey Sour gets my vote for today.

Gone for the ex Giggi one ,Cliffs of Dooneen - Beckett knocking in a few winners lately but both Beckett and Bentley red hot at this festival

That was a very unsatisfactory race (unless you backed the winner) decided by jockeyship. The front two, both drawn wide, got to the front early and had it to themselves all the way to the final furlong. The heavy rain didn't help many.
