Each member gets three chances to post a winner, or three different selections. A little bit of reasoning would be good aswell.

Simply post a winner at odds-against..(no 1/10 shots please)..you have three tries to tip a winner...then you can post as many as you want after that.

Remember. This is a funds booster thread.

I'll kick off.

Exeter 2:50 A big fancy for Sustainable Star for me. The horse was a good third the last day. Now down in the handicap. Off the bottom weight. You don't see bets like this every day of the week.

A great chance at the current odds of 12/1.

A Marb special this.

Hereford 2.10 Saint De Vassy. You need to ignore his first run over fences where a bad mistake effectively finished his race. He's a chaser in the making and his hurdles form wasn't too shabby. The best of these in my opinion. He'll also likely relish the ground. 15/2 ew with Betfair Sportsbook in an eight runner race is a steel.

Looks like a sound tip, good luck.

My one has drifted to a crazy price. I'm not sure what to make of it. Horse doesn't know its price I guess.

I saw a couple of trainer Fergal O Briens have been backed into favouratism.

Hereford 2:40 I'm Wiser Now and 3:10 Blue Monday.

I think they'll be my second and third strikes.

If none win, I will do the honourable thing, and get the hell out of this thread.

2nd so a nice place return. Will be a nice bet when stepped up to two and a half as he looked as though he's improve for it.

Thurles 2:30 De Mazzaro.

I put a line through the last day at Cheltenham.

He races off a lovely low weight here. Major sqeak. :)

Harambe 15.35 Ascot tomorrow. Went well in the Greatwood, and won't mind the ground. 11/1 looks a big price

A.King said in the weekender,
Harambe was doubtful for this race as he hurt himself during the week. I think he was 5/1 fav for this during the week.

Turnpike trip 335a 16/1
Militarian ?ascot 16/1

That's me till boxing day.
Merry christmas.

In the big hcap hurdle today at Ascot I've taken Countister ew. The usual caveats apply: I'm unable to study the form in detail so this is based on memory and gut instinct.

(That's right - I'm guessing...)

Last week I backed Ch'tibello against so-called potential Champion Hurdle types in Call Me Lord and Pentland Hills, both trained by Hendo, because I know I have a very high opinion of the County form. Ch'tibello didn't let me down in the least trying to give 4lbs and more. Hendo's pair of We Have A Dream (same owner as CML) and Countister were the only ones to give Ch'tibello a serious race and they were a long way clear of the third in what is arguably the most competitive UK handicap hurdle of the season.

Countister is only 4lbs higher today and is open to at least that much improvement.

I was swithering about backing her, to be honest, as I feared the heavy ground but Hendo says in his blog that she acted well in it in France and his sponsors Unibet are notably short on her.

If you can get 12/1 and 5 places I think that's value. 11/1 and six places might just be a steal.

Ascot having another inspection at 11:30am. Touch and go whether it'll even be on.

I'd like to see Daklondike win today. I have him in my ten to follow...as I was thinking he could win a big handicap chase or two.

He is still in the Welsh National this Friday. I wonder whether they will go for both races (provided the horse is okay after todays race).

If he could win today he'd surely be a few pounds well-in for Chepstow next week.

I would imagine one race a week in this ground would be enough for any horse, even if they do love the heavy.

Racing at Ascot looks as if it goes ahead as they are putting the hurdles back in, Geraghty says Soft, heavy in places.

None of this official :ninja:

Stranger things have happened. Six days is six days.

Not every jumps horse in training needs a month off between races. There are some circumstances where a trainer or owner might want to try it.

If he won by a few lengths today and showed he was in form are you telling me connections wouldn't be tempted to run him next Friday?

He'd be well in.

It's not like sprinters who can run every other day or two. It's the same in athletics where there can be more than one round in a day for the 100m but there has to be a decent gap for the long distance heats and finals.

There's also a difference between getting over an easy race and a hard one.

I reckon if Daklondike finishes prominently today he won't run later in the week. In fact, he's probably only still in the later race in case today's was off.

He wouldn't necessarily be well in either. A tight finish today whether he won or not might see the winner much so he'd probably need to win to end up well-handicapped and, as I say, the chances are the race later in the week isn't on their mind. I imagine the yard will have something else prime for that.

I am not suggesting it's a given he would run at Chepstow. I accept he will probably be taken out by next Friday..but it's not like he is running in two Welsh Nationals within six days.

If he did happen to win well today, you just rest him up all week and take him to Chepstow on Friday. He wouldn't be lacking for fitness for sure.

Each to their own.

My point is that resting for a few days won't do anything for the horse. I don't know enough about training horses to say for sure but I do know that resting up for a few days after a very hard game of football doesn't get you better for a few days later. I presume the principles behind the build-up of lactic acid apply to horses just as much as to athletes.

I also think athletes (and footballers) are kept on the move while recovering, rather than simply resting.

The only way Daklondike will have an easy time of it today is if they let him plod along for a circuit then pull him up, having targeted Friday all along.

I should add, I have no idea how well handicapped or not he is right now. I'm merely doubting the idea that he could win or run very well right to the end today and have recovered in time for next weekend.
