Christmas Room 101

- Mobile Phone Companies (don't even ask. They are in danger of ruining my marriage by causing me to have huge stress levels)
- Paul O'Grady (makes my toes curl)
- Equine Obituaries
- Moderators Deleting Things
- New York hotels (stuck-up service)
- Running out of butter
- People whingeing about Martin Pipe
- Political Correctness
- Pat Kenny (nobody in the public eye winds me up as much as this man)
- Lying Car Salesmen (again, don't get me started)
- Habitat (the store)
- My left foot (missed another great chance on Sunday)
- London barmen (why can't they be quicker and why do they need to hang around like a plum whilst waiting for Guinness to settle; surely they can take my order while they wait?)

Christmas. Immense activity, mostly aimed at Western commercial advantages, based on a myth. Or was that the invasion of Iraq?

Oh God, I suppose it's time for the pikey Christmas lights and 12ft inflatable Santas to be wheeled out again......

Yep, can't stand decorations in peoples gardens.

Sprouts, cauliflower, parsnips, turkey, white or cranberry sauce.

We got an exciting radio message at Fontwell today to say, "Main Gate here. I've got a sleigh and a reindeer arriving... " It turned out to be a poxy resin thing, which was brought in on the back of a small trailer. No wonder children lose faith in there being a Santa Claus. I'm only just about clinging to the hope he still exists.

Definitely exists. He parades around our town about a week before Christmas (at the invitation of the local Rotary Club, I understand) complete with his troop (if that's the correct collective noun) of reindeer who are very friendly creatures and are allowed to graze on the common green while Santa partakes of the local hospitality. Great for kids of all ages.

Come to think of it, isn't it a 'parcel' of deer? Wouldn't it be appropriate if it was also a parcel of reindeer? (Or is that just what the innuits bring back from the butcher's?)

Phew! I was worried for a bit there. I'll phone up the local Rotarians and see if they've got him sorted for a flyover down South. I haven't got a chimney, so the roof garden will have to do for the Christmas stocking. (Well, it's a pair of tights, and I've asked for a new car - it should just about fit in.)

Father Christmas is coming to my house tomorrow night. The Rotary Club tour the streets of Faringdon in the run up to Christmas and tomorrow night it's the turn of my part of town. From what I can remember he doesn't ride on a sleigh though, it looks like Thomas The Tank Engine. Anyway, the kids couldn't care less about his carriage, every year it's the same, they're excited about seeing him then do fab impressions of startled rabbits when he arrives

Much to my chagrin, my missus has purchased some pole thingy (2ft high) with a snowman or somesuch perched on top of it and sign saying "welcome", which she wishes to stick in our garden.

I want a rider put on it saying "By written invitation only" just in case someone takes it literally.

 I can see that kind offer being taken up deep into December 26th by groups of roistering youngsters - "Look! Ishez wel(hic!)come! Leshall gowan see the nize people! Hallo? HALLO? OI! YOU LOT IN THERE! OPEN THE BLOODY DOOR!"

:o CAROL SINGERS :o A ring on the bell, you go to see who it is, open the door and they start singing...another form of begging.... to have to endure this! A definate for ROOM 101.....

P.S. I don't mind seeing-listening to choirs on the street or in shopping marls and making a donation-contribution.....
