Chrome?

It's just undergone an automatic update so try Relaunching/Rebooting. All's well here

I use Chrome on a laptop without a mouse but I haven't worked out how to highlight text for copy, cut and paste purposes. I've waded through their Help material but it all assumes the use of a mouse.

Just hold down the shift key and use the right arrow from the beginning of what you want to copy, then Cntrl C, Cntrl V etc

That method works fine for me in Firefox but definitely not in Chrome, for whatever reason. I can't get the cursor to blink on a Chrome web page in any part other than a text box such as this Reply to Thread box or on a link.

When you say 'without a mouse' do you mean you're using a trackpad or that you're looking for a way of doing it with the keyboard only?

Assuming the former, you shouldn't ever see the cursor blinking in static text in a web browser. Just hold the left button down and drag across the trackpad with your finger to select text. Also a double-click on a word should select it and a triple-click should select the whole paragraph.

If you want to select text with keyboard alone then CTRL+A (or CMD+A on a Mac) will select the whole page which can then be copied and pasted elsewhere using CTRL+C and CTRL-V (again, CMD on a Mac) but you normally can't select individual bits of text.
