1 v 1 for 1 point each, bonus 2 points for the highest team total?

That's a very good idea Melendez.
I've always thought the team totals should be taken into consideration.

£1000 to bet with each day, a maximum of 4 bets per person, and if you beat your opponent you score 1 point.
Normally I prefer win only because otherwise it can take a lot of settling, but I'm not sure we if we should allow each way being as it's Royal Ascot.
How about each player being restricted to one each way bet per day?
