Constitution Hill

Where is the competition in an Arkle going to come from?

Ballyburn would wipe his hole with the best of the graduating 2m novice hurdlers and not break sweat whilst doing so. He’s head-and-shoulders better than everything else at the trip.
WPM's Majborough has chasing written all over him and I could see him being his Arkle horse next season. Sir Gino isn't exactly void of talent and is likely to go chasing. There are a few others that could improve for the switch to fencing and that is why it's 5/1 the field.

Ballyburn's form has not exactly been franked having beaten Slade Steel about the same distance as Mystical Power did the other day and he didn't look like a future superstar yesterday. He doesn't do anything quickly like a top class 2 miler should

Lossiemouth heading for the Champion Hurdle after running past trees.

I wouldn't mind laying her as I reckon she'll be exposed as simply not good enough and will end up back in the mares

Fortunately Nicky is over the moon with Constitution Hill after a break and actually said he's back.

Surprised it hasn't affected the betting and you can still have 11/4.

I had a serious look at Lossiemouth and to be frank unless she improves 7lbs I doubt if she'll be a bigger threat than State Man.

They both ran on the same day and the same day at the Festival and she was very slow compared to him from 2 out.

Different trip I know but we are talking 8 to 12 lengths slower plus she has beat nothing of note,

William Hill offer 5/2 which is the most ridiculous ate post price I have seen in 30 years.

State Man is 7/1 on Betfair

I'm as big a fan of CH as there is but I'll want to see him back and doing the biz before getting involved in betting him. Hendo is notorious for talking them up when they're not quite right.

If I was a big better then I would take the price on CH as if he wins easy first time up he will be 1/3.
That's why it's called gambling.

You could write the script already. Hyping up a piece of work is nonsense. How many trainers say the horse is working great then disappoint on the track. The horse is obviously a bit fragile and may well blow everybody away but please not another season of talking about the horse and he's nowhere to be seen. Getting tedious and annoying now. Let's concentrate on those that will be running.

I'd be amazed if he didn't turn up in the Fighting Fith. Can't imagine the opposition being up to much. That should tell us a lot more.

Sir Gino 8s from 16s for the above race.

I watched the video and thought he looked to be going extremely well then he emptied and at the finish Sir Gino looked to be going better. He also didn’t look like he was hugely enjoying the ground in the last furlong. He will come on plenty for that especially when back on proper good ground.

I haven't come across and comments as I dont have UK TV at the moment but saw the viseo and must say I am not overly worried. If he went to Newbury 100% and did that I would worry but he most likely would be a good bit short of being fully fit. You have to consider that was 3 work outs before the day as in Newbury and 2 others before Newcastle. In the past I've personally seen horses improve a stone in that time for an actual race so I am sticking with him.........not that I have much choice:)

So in essence the workout told us absolutely nothing. It was the way Henderson spoke afterwards that sowed the seeds of doubt. He was very defensive instead of saying what you suggested that he will improve before the race. Time will tell of course but as with city of Troy's Southwell work out didn't tell us anything.

Thanks Dessie That was an excellent piece of work I don't know what the hell thse bookmakers were watching. He's running all over Sir Gino 4 to furlongs out then simply blew up. The all important last piece of work will come after he pops a few hurdle which will be on Sunday I expectect but that will be behind closed doors......If he runs he wins

Rose tinted glasses -it absolutely wasn't an excellent piece of work.

I'm more with you on this than others. He was going very well until the last furlong which to me also suggests he blew up. Throw in the fact that he's clearly not liking the soft ground (watch how he nods regularly which is a good indicator). He should come on a tonne for this and as they get older, horses can take a bit longer to get fitter.

I did notice the nodding but don't know enough about this kind of thing to know what caused it. I just thought he was maybe struggling to keep up with SG.

The cynic in me wouldn't trust Hendo as far as I could throw him and I wouldn't be surprised if this was all about getting prices for CH for Newcastle and Cheltenham.

Understand one thing Luke. The last thing you would want is for him to be catching pigeons 11 days before a race. He has a week /7 days to do his last piece of serious work and I am the last person to tell Nicky he's got it wrong
