Dante Meeting

Just the run of the race...door kept getting shut on him. Different result if you re-ran it

Easy to sit in a chair and say that. Just one of those things. The winner got a clearer run while Passenger found the gaps closing. It happens and when you are on a middle distance horse it’s very hard to take a pull not once but twice and expect instant acceleration if you do get that gap. This horse was only having the second race of his career which is also something to factor in. He will have learnt a lot today.

I'll still probably bet Passenger in the Derby, but I can't escape the feeling that a top jock shouldn't get into that kind of hole - albeit coloured by how much it cost me.

I backed The Foxes - not big stake - but don’t understand why, when you’ve so much horse underneath you as Kingscote clearly had, you sit and let something come past you and close the gap

True I’ve never ridden a horse but I’ve watched enough racing in the past 40 years to know that wasn’t great.

Normally I'd agree but I'm keen on bottom weight Eeetee and tracked him after he was eye catching in winning at Haydock. Happy to take 7s.

Also very happy with the possie I have on Siskany in the Yorkshire Cup. I took 6s last week and have topped up at 4s when the market re-opened although I do fear Broome.

In the last I like another bottom weight in Winter Power who ran well enough first time out behind Jer Batt who has franked the form since and was easy on the eye at Chester from a bad draw last week. He's gone a bit short now but 7+ on the machine is acceptable.

I backed Eeetee about an hour ago in a win single when I was out and about in a shop in my town centre. I wasn't able to take the price so will have to settle for SP but hope he goes very close for us anyway.

Kathab looks the type to progress and is no doubt a worthy favourite having already finished in front of New Buisness behind Passenger.
Mostabshir was a bit disappointing last time but could bounce back

However looking back at the Newmarket race New Business set a strong pace and had them all at it until coming out of the dip when he ran out of gas.

Given a less agressive ride on this less stamina sapping course and with Oisin doing the steering he might just win this,

Could it be that last year's 3yos are better than generally reckoned?

I like stayers so despite having lost with my Siskany bet, I'm looking on the bright side and hoping the Leger form will be further franked in the weeks to come.

Huge run from Eldar Eldarov, it has to be said.

I wouldn't take that forward one jot going into other courses. I've come to truly hate York and it's idiosyncratic results.

Mostabshir pretty impressive there. Kathab still got an immature action, climbing rather than stretching or possibly needs softer ground.

Yes it was a steady early pace but the winner still accelerated quickly away from the others. I don’t know? Did he just get first run on them? Possibly or not. My own opinion is that it was a decent performance although as JG said, that’s probably put him out of the Britannia now!

Probably was a good performance, but senior jocks should know better than allow Wm Buick an easy lead.

Was interested to see how Kathab (2nd in Wood Ditton) ran, but learned zip the way the race turned out.
