I'd say JP said to Frank Berry

"Frank I've been looking at the last 50 horses you bought me and I think
you need a new Plan A"

and the rest is history.

I'll get my coat :o

Someone has to explain this JP/Frank Berry thing to me.

I said to someone in the know recently how much better Gigginstown are at the racing operation than JP and how Gigginstown are breaking even on an operating basis and JP must be losing a fortune each year. I was quickly put right. JP broke even from an operating basis last year when gambling profits were taken into account. They have become a much bigger gambling operation with Kieran on board and Plan A is exactly that, a gamble horse. Sure to get into the bigger races over hurdles and the flat, they could spend the year getting him down the weights in order to land one gamble.

Plan A is a bridle merchant handicapped up to the hilt

It'd be some gamble they'd need to land though Cantoris - tried to work out his monthly training fees, think he ran 300+ horses in the UK and Ireland in 2011 which at £1,000 a month (think that's fairly cheap to be fair) he'd be having to land at least one monster touch a month (assuming all his gambles win).

More like £2,000 a month, I'd have thought, IS, especially with the trainers JP uses and probably more in some cases.

In what way do you mean Gigginstown break even, Cantoris? Just cover the training fees with prize money or purchase fees too? They earnt £1,462,597 in prize money in Britain and Ireland last season, and say it costs around £15,000 a year to have one in training then that covers 100 horses. I thought they had more than that, plus doesn't include any purchase prices. Not saying you're wrong, just curious.

Simon, do you believe in the value & truth of purchase prices?

Personally I believe it's rotten to the core.

You can say whatever you like, but 'let's just say' it'll no doubt be a load of old shite like the rest of your posts.
