Dettori interview

Speaking after his win:

It seems after all that he's getting all the support from trainers that he could wish for.

Well of course on summer Saturdays nowadays it is pretty easy for competent jockeys to get rides . The proof of the pudding will be Ascot, the July meeting and Goodwood.

Fallon has shown it can be done and so I have no doubt Frankie will be backing the in Gr1 winners circle before year end....

RP reports that he is rumoured to be about to sign for Sheikh Joann - if so that means he could be riding Toronado and Olympic Glory .

Rather odd to replace the champion jockey who cannot stop riding winners with Frankie , who despite winning a few , seems to be struggling.

confirmed;

FRANKIE DETTORI has been confirmed as the new retained rider for Sheikh Joaan Al Thani, one of the rising forces in the owning and breeding world.

The Racing Post exclusively revealed on Sunday that the former champion jockey was on the verge of signing a deal with the brother of the Emir of Qatar as he tries to re-establish himself in the top rank of jockeys.

The news was confirmed in a statement, which read: "Al Shaqab Racing owned by H.E Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani are pleased to officially announce that Frankie Dettori will be the resident jockey."

It was at Chantilly's race meeting on Sunday where the contract was signed, and Sian Jones, representing Al Shaqab Racing, said: "It's an honour to welcome Frankie to our team, and we hope for a great future for this partnership."

Richard Hughes apparently keeping the ride on Toronado and probably a few more top class ones at the Hannon yard.

Racing needs Dettori. Class is permanent.

Totally agree. A wonderful talent. The way he can hit the front and dictate the race so cleverly is one of the joys of flat racing. Seen very few so able to do so and naturally its a far more appealing style for a punter than some "lookatme" late finishing **** up merchant

Looking like Hughes is only keeping the ride on Toronado after all , having it been suggested originally he was to ride all the Joann Hannon inmates and then only yesterday those he had already ridden but that would surely have included Olympic Glory

I wonder how much this has to do with Frankie's pretty terrible summer and the need to boost his confidence .
