Dick Francis RIP

It's not that I do not respect him or wish his family well. But I think he had a very long and decent life and therefore there is not that much sorrow involved in his death - for me anyway. He had been seriously ill for a long while and it was time for him to find peace.

I read all of his books and enjoyed them much more than many of the other racing writers efforts. He is from a different era and they now seem quite dated, but still worth reading of course. I think his last books were not up to the standard, and the absence of his wife Mary's contribution told on the quality.
 
I did respond, on another forum, but for what it's worth, I'll go along with Isinglass's remarks completely.
