Dishonest Colleagues

"So you don't want to agree to disagree and you want an explanation as to why I hold an opinion that differs from yours...."
Not at all, it would be a strange - and disturbing - world if everyone had the same opinion on everything. Some people think that it is human nature to be bad and that good people are the exceptions, while others take the opposite view. My experience of life has been that the latter is true.

Ian, you are arguing about a different subject. See above.

OK, Brian. B)

Btw, you are correct that human nature is not homogenous - some spend their entire lives in the pursuit of accumulating personal wealth, others spend their entire lives selflessly helping others by doing voluntary work in the third world, Saddam Hussain is a human being, Mother Therea was also a human being.

Hence, generalisations about ''human nature'' are manifestly futile.

There again, Ian, one could argue against the notion of 'selflessness'. One does what one does because one feels compelled to do it and it gives one a feeling of satisfaction to do it. I doubt that Mother Teresa spent her years in India because she hated doing the work she did (ditto Albert Schweitzer and other 'saintly' people). Therefore, one does not work entirely without some sense of self entering what one does or achieves - be it mere satisfaction at improving life for others.

Likewise, someone who lives to accumulate vast wealth does not do so without benefitting others: they will no doubt provide income for others, whether directly through employment of people like domestic servants, chauffeurs, pilots of private jets, etc., or indirectly by purchasing a variety of goods, including original art, thus benefitting the originators, or manufacturers (and their employees).

Thus turns the world, with far fewer absolutes than we are often encouraged to accept.

Point taken, Mum, but clearly some have compassion for others and the simple capacity to think: ''there but for the grace of God go I'' whereas others would do unimaginably awful things to others that would terrify them if perpetrated against themselves without seemingly a second's thought about this notion.

We are all different.

I'm sorry if I offended people with the comment about the stereotype, but it happens to fit this bloke exactly & what I said wasn't exactly a new idea - has the world gone so PC mad now that a person isn't allowed to mention a stereotype? Unless of course it suits them - how many blonde or women jokes have been put on here? Should I get offended about them? The fact that I (& the majority of others) don't take umbrage at every comment in such a vein is obviously irrelevant...

Incidentally, my one colleague who actually received some cash is the one in this whole affair that is the most furious - he is not happy at all that the cash has not been shared & has said that if the money isn't shared between the 6 of us he will personally telephone the customer to tell him what happened.

For what it's worth, I can't believe the over-sensitivity on here. There have been deletions of all sorts of postings, there have been complaints about all sorts of postings but they are all done on a selective basis. People post jokes about this that or the other group in society and then themselves object to items about another group.

Obviously, there are differing views about what is unacceptable
- mine appear to be very differing... :D

Dom and Brian are absolutely right - several on here need to get a grip and develop a sense of humour about their racial identity - if more people did so, then most of our so-called Politically (in) Correct problems would disappear overnight...

S/L I agree with you 100% and again I have had a thread deleted with no reason as to why :o it was a whimsical comment on a recipe for curry, I will put another thread on here and call it CENSORSHIP and the ability to have free speech on here at all times as long as it don't contravene the boards parrameters....

We can't have a dictator on here telling you or I what we can/cant post if as stated its not breaking the board rules..... :o :P

Well, we all know that anyway, LordH!!!! We all lead such sheltered lives in comparison with your life of debauchery.... :P

Her's was just a comment, abeit a little politically incorrect, i dont think she's done anything wrong and if i was scottish, i wouldnt take any offence at all. I mean, every1 says things that r politically incorrect everyday. Chill.

I'm Scottish, I didn't take offence. Although I did post somewhere else that I thought the English were a "strange tribe".

It was much less offensive than being called a "sweaty sock" or, as one delightful gentlemen put it to me "A facking Scotch cant".

The chap who has failed to execute his duties vis a vis dishing out cash as per the customer's request still deserves a damn good stabbing. That'd sort him out.

Look at your serial deleters, and then look at what they post.

That should tell an interesting story.

One point, you don't have use swear words to be abusive.

Shadow Leader,
i don't know how you put up with. Working with this guy is going to put a lot of stress on you.

I hope that you get your share of the loot and that your co worker gets a right old telling off.

Any way i hope that you get over it soon and put it behind you.

I don't swear either Simmo but I think Derek's point is that you can be just as abusive without swearing and be far more offensive.

After a good stabbing maybe you could urinate on the guy and scald him to death just to make sure...just a thought ! :D

Oh, and yes you can be abusive without swearing. I just prefer not to. ;)

Well I'm happy to report that the old bastard coughed up, eventually! He's actually ignored everyone for the past week & been in a mighty strop since it all came out, buthe did give the cash to my colleague to dish out. I can eat for another few weeks now, at least! :D
