Thinking of going in August or last week of oct first week nov but all the flights are coming up so expensive and don't want to do a package. Anyone got any cheaper ways they know of?

2 adults 2 kiddies and a baby

I was in Orlando during the World Cup in 1994. The heat was very hard to take, so I would advise you to check out carefully the average temperatures and humidity levels in August compared with October.

Some good advice on that website SC.
The first time I took my lot we paid far too much taking a Virgin package as it was the only one with inflight computer games a the time. We also learned about timing visits and breaking up the day visiting the amazing water parks.
Next time we stayed in a villa/house which was a huge improvement and incredibly cheaper. October/early November is the best time for taking kids because of the heat and humidity. When selecting dates find out on the web when the US holidays are in order to avoid them.
For flights there is no one site that is always cheaper you just have to regularly trawl and look for the special deals. It's probably a little early for getting any discounts this far in advance.
When renting don't forget to try the "its just above my budget" move once you have identified somewhere. Also remember to look at US sites and not just UK.

Went quite a while ago in the last week of September. Their schools had gone back and the worst of the humidity had gone. We stayed at a Holiday Inn outside of Orlando which was much cheaper. It was just off the main freeway so it was very easy to get to all the main attractions. The hotel was mostly business people other than us so we had the pool virtually to ourselves when we wanted it as well.

Thanks for the info guys... Anyone heard if the Orange County Club is any good.. Large timeshare resort I think
