Required viewing for all you meat eaters

Dispatches goes under cover in the meat trade to find

1 Food handling qualifications being fudged

2 A leading industry consultant advises clients to defraud government agencies that were set up to modernise the food trade

3 A wholesaler who supplies shops and restaurants in London sells cuts of meat that are dirty and diseased .

Dispatches bought a batch that was infected with tapeworms and pleurisy and covered in abscesses

Enjoy

Alternatively , give up meat - or make sure you buy direct from top notch suppliers like Songsheet :D

Cor, with you and Terry promoting my meat, I shall soon be able to retire..!

Probably horrific viewing, though. Must admit when I buy meat (other than beef), I do only buy from local farmers, which is obviously pretty easy for me to do. I find sourcing decent chicken is the hardest to do, as I won't buy it unless I know it's been properly reared and despatched.

Remember watching that expose on Bernard Matthews years ago and the accepted method for killing chooks/turkeys he used - hideous.

More bloody scaremongering.......  James....are you part of the new government plot to enforce the UK to become vegetarian after they've banned hunting, shooting & fishing?! :P

Yes, we can get Channel 4 here in Gib, James....we're not that primitive, you know!!!! However, since I'll most likely be getting my beauty sleep in as I'm on nights I may miss it! Damn shame!!! :P

Very interesting! Especially as lamb and goat meat were the target meats...

Now, can I interest anyone in some superbly raised and humanely despatched beef? B)
