I entered into a debate with regards PERSONAL number plates for your car on F-F this passed week.

Do you have one? would you like one? is it a sign of being a show off etc etc, your thoughts comments here please.

I posted this on the 1st SEPT; regards the debate on F-F..................

I was considering getting NED 777 @£250 this was my nick name and the nom de plume I used when on CH4...NED ............but still not certain whether to buy or not! My FORD FOCUS TCDI is 4 yrs old now 02 REG, but has only done 1200 miles and it does everything I want out of a motor i.e. speed if you want too and good on economy as well 50 on run 36 around town I bought it from brand new......

1200 miles in 4 years ?? thats less than a mile a day Ned.

They are a status symbol but can also be an investment.

I can't believe that NED 777 is going for £250. Get it Merlin and if you don't want it I'll give you a profit on it.

I have one. It was given to me as a present so, as they say in The Sopranos, Watchgonnado?

I could still be an egotistical prick, though I don't think so.

We will not have a poll on it, thank you.

Merlin, is there a 0 missing in your mileage? You must have done about 350 when you came to Alan's funeral.
Brian no mate its factual and a trip to Lingfield as well r.e. Alans race day and a trip to POOLE one day with my grandchildren and Aberyswyth for a day out too, but don't do much mileage at all lately.

I can understand people having approrpiate personalised number plates, some crazy prices being charged for some of them though - 1EO up for sale for just under £100k!

Apparently P155 OFF wasn't released, but you can get A1 CNT for less than £2k!

I have one although I wouldn't call myself an egotistical prick. Other things yes, but not an egotistical prick. The one I have was fourth choice in my list and I have tried to sell it twice but with no success yet.

I've got W13 OOF and the 'ex' has W14 OOF - cheap and cheerful plates and the best thing being that as they are now some 5 years old, it's goes unnoticed when we purchase new cars. Round here, if you take delivery of a new vehicle, all quotes you receive for groud work etc go up by 10%.....

I once drove behind a middle aged bald man driving a sports car with the number plate BA1 DY

Merlin, what I meant is I think that your posting must have meant 12,000 miles in four years rather than 1,200. The four journeys to and from London, Lingfield, Poole and Aberystwyth can't be far short of the 1,200!

yes with you Brian yes it is 12,000 miles.. sowie!!!................

Yeah, yeah, I believe you... <_< (maybe... ) :D

I should say it's 'personal' number plates I can't stand. I think funny ones - AR5E would be nice, to be honest - are okay because they rather take the mick out of parading yourself on your car. Or those which go with your line of business: P1MP, for example. Why not just have 'This car is owned by Merlin the Magician' sprayed on the sides if you want everyone to know who owns it?
