Thought that Daleks in New York story was crap after a promising start to this series . Ridiculous storyline and an absurd New York accented Dalek hybrid .

Wasn't very good at all,

compare the dialogue to the end of series 2

Dalek Sekk "How did you survive?"
Doctor "By fighting - on the front line. I was there at the fall of Arcadia, someday I might even come to terms with that"

Now that is cracking dialogue

However I would say that I liked the premise of Dalek evolution but it was handled totally wrong

Pretty good, Overbruv, but nowhere near....

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die".

Rutger apparently wrote it himself.

It made me quite teary when I saw it! cry Fantastically lyric piece, something I could imagine a Shakespearean hero declaiming, and definitely my favourite piece from a film. Is there actually a Tannhauser Gate somewhere in Austria or Germany? It's (Tannhauser) a helluva production, too!

Ah, just Googled and found the references via Wikipedia, the Oracle of All Knowledge! No real gate, but the notion is that a Tannhauser Gate would be something achieved after the end of a very long struggle (viz 'Roy Batty' in Blade Runner - what a ghastly name to give the divine Rutger!), after the knight, Tannhauser, exhaustively searched for Venus, finding her at last deep underground, where he worshipped her for a year (and led to Wagner's magnificent opera).

Agree that Dr Who is not as good as it was. It's lost the sparkle. Maybe such a good thing cannot go on forever though ..... the 'human' dalek was rubbish. He had no presence compared to his heavy metal colleagues. The voice was crap too, nothing scary there.

On the other hand ..... Bladerunner is such a classic.

Wasnt that the whole point though?? The evoloution of the Daleks (because the only ones to survive were the cult of Scara(the ones who were made to imagine) went wrong because they suddenly became too human when the DNA got mixed?? adn thats wehy they ended up with Dalek Sec ( or whichever one it was) becoming almost nice....

I basically agree though - didnt like this 2 parter as much, the first part was good, but the second was a bid tame - next weeks is supposed to be very very scary....

Mind you though - scary for teatime on a Saturday and scary for an adult arent nececcarily the same thing.

(even I havent needed to hide behind a cusion yet this series....)

I thought it was terrible
It never ceases to amaze me how one program can go from one extreme to the other.
Girk in the Fireplace was excellent TV, and possibly one of the best Who episode ever, whereas this weeks was almost enough to stop me ever watching it again!

So muchfor that one being scary then....

Im not goign to like the next one - I have a problen with scarecrows, same as I do clowns.....

Still watch it though - just will ahve a cusion to hand :( :)

Costly on the tissue front though Colin

Brilliant episode, makes you remember how good an actor David Tennant is.

Nice ending with the ode of rememberance too, powerful words
