If so, can you help? I have just got hold of one (Orange persuaded me to take a free one) and it seems fine (G3, video phone, all bells and whistles) but I've been a Nokia man for yeras and know my way around their products. Now thers's a bit more to learn.

My first failure is with a ringtone that I downloaded (for a fee) from the Orange site. It is now sitting on my phone but I haven't got the faintest idea how to make it my default ringtone. The manual is useless on the subject and I have emailed the Orange helpline, though I've no idea how long it's going to take them to respond - it's been over six hours so far.

Does anyone have experience of this model?

Sorry Brian, I can't help you.

I'm reminded though of a story told about a consultant many years ago in the Mater hospital in Dublin.

He came into work one day and proudly informed his colleagues that he was only the third man in Dublin to have a private phone, the others being the Taoiseach and the Archbishop of Dublin. "And which of them did you call first?", they asked.

Brian if you click on Service and the on MP3 there may be enough info depending if your ringtone is MP3 ?

Here's a copy and paste which may give a clue anyway

Does the S750 allow MP3 playback. How does it work?

Yes, MP3 Playback is supported by the S750.
Press Menu > Media Album > Melody&Ring tones > Select MP3 file and press "Play" (MP3 Playback with Play list).

[1] Play all MP3 files: Press Menu > Extras > Media Player > Play Audio > Select All Audios (then all the songs will be played in the selected order)

[2] Playlist of MP3 files: Press Menu > Extras > Media Player > Play Audio > Select Options > Select New > Type new playlist name, then press OK > select the songs you would like to add to the new playlist, then press next (repeat until you’ve added all desired songs and press Complete) > select new playlist name to listen to the songs.

Is it possible to set a MP3 file as a ringtone?

Yes, it is possible to set a MP3 file as a ringtone. To set a MP3 file as a ringtone:

Go from: Menu > Settings > Phone Settings > Ringtones > Select the one you would like to set (e.g. Incoming Call/Incoming Text Message/Incoming Picture Message, etc.) > Select Pattern 1 (the title "pattern 1" can be different depending on the file currently set as a ring tone) > Select the MP3 file you would like to set as ringtone.

I read the MP3 stuff - you are supposed to be able to download polyphonics from the Orange site directly to you ringtone. I'll try to list the URL, which is long, and put that in manually to see what happens.

So, I could ring up PDJ and look at him...
